Merle, outside of class, can often be taken as aloof and rude. Not only is he naturally hard of hearing, but he tends to avoid people. He's also a bit of an introspective person and tends to think over his answers carefully. He's a gentleman though, and polite to a fault -- or at least, he attempts to be. Past his public mask, he's a goofy, warm individual that loves sharing stories and joking around.

Merle can definitely come off as a know it all, especially when it comes to his dragons. He also seems to know quite a bit about general biology -- even Muggle biology. He can be difficult to deal with, especially when he believes he is in the right. His aloofness and introspection can definitely spark some fires between people, not to mention his somewhat cocky attitude.

Merle's kind of oblivious when it comes to crushes, even when he has them. Usually, if he's got a crush on someone, even he's the last one to know. Even moreso if someone has a crush on him. That being said, he's very involved with his work at home, and is a bit difficult to get to know because of it. Past that, he's a total romantic and wants nothing more than to settle down with a nice girl and have lots of children to help run his family's conservation effort.

I think these two can be good friends! They're both polite and very warm, though at first they both are hard to come to as friends since they both seem awkward! But they can be good if not great friends, helping each other out and being there for each other. Who knows, she might develop a crush on him and do nothing about it since she's shy and he's oblivious about it.

Somehow I can see these two getting along really well. How they meet is another story, taking the different house and year into consideration. I liked your idea, with both of them just wanting some peace and quiet from the crowd and hustle of the other students in the castle, and ending up meeting up somewhere that's.. less crowded and more quiet, lol, wherever that may be?
Liberty is pretty quiet, not much of a people person. Her social life consists mostly of a best friend who she met from sharing a dormitory with, and a close friend who felt sorry for her when she was in her first year and decided to help show her the robes when she came to Hogwarts. Other than that, she usually does not talk to people unless they talk to her first, with a few exceptions. She is a very nice person though, in the sense that she is extremely kind wherever she finds the opportunity to be. Any thoughts?

Haha, yeah, they should definitely already be friends, they're in the same house and are close enough in age. If she developed a crush on him, he'd never know unless she made a move xD. He'd definitely be at all the quidditch games, cheering her on, though! They probably sit together at the Hufflepuff table at meals XD.

Maybe they both snuck off to the library and ran into each other -- or he helped her get a book she couldn't quite find? Maybe they'd become study buddies for exams? Merle's great at stuff like Care of Magical Creatures and Herbology and potions, things that can be legitimately quantified, but Magic? Actually casting spells? Horrible. Just, horrible. He'd need help xD

Well, Liberty's great at subjects like Astronomy, History and Potions... the other subjects she has to try harder. She's decent at Care of Magical Creatures and Herbology.. Transfiguration is her worst. So maybe since they both seem to be bad at actually casting spells, they could practice together? Try to improve.
We could RP that OR considering they have been in the school for five years together, a more amusing idea is that they could've both ended up in some empty classroom or study lounge or something and met there, and just talked and ended up deciding to help each other practice spells and such, and people noticed they started disappearing off together and started up rumors about them that are actually quite funny, but would end up making Liberty feel pretty awkward and embarrassed around him. It'd be amusing to RP, lol, if you like the idea, though I'm not sure how Merle would respond to it, if he'd make it into a humorous situation? What do you think?

Well, Arianne would probably know him if he's friends with her best friend - but I cant see them really being able to break through each other's walls of politeness. So probably just casual acquaintances.
Thoughts?
