The pressure of making a decision kept growing as the Dementor drifted closer to the two Hogwarts students still laying in the grass. Cassandra didn't take Maxwel''s intellectual observation to well, although he had to admit she had a point. They didn't need to get rid of it, just slow it down. However, Maxwell had an argument.
"If we cast a spell at it than it knows where we are, if we run, we might still have a chance to get out of here."
It was obvious the duo was going to run, but it was all a matter of timing, and with time being in such low levels, it was going to need to be a quick decision. Max felt his body tense, ready to scramble to his feet as he stared directly at the approaching creature. He never really noticed how horrific they were. The bony, fleshy hands covered in the shredded cloth. He still didn't understand why a Dementor would be anywhere near Hogwarts, or how it was even possible, but it was the situation and it needed to be dealt with.
Cassandra reminded him that going immediately would be a more positive choice, and he couldn't disagree with her. "Alright," he started, still hushed. "On the count of three..."
"One."
"Two."
He felt his back arch, as he prepared to fly towards the castle.
"Thr-"
He paused, as the Dementor turned its back to the two and began to hover away into the sky. He couldn't believe it.
"It's...it's gone!" He exclaimed, collapsing on the ground from all the strain he had been putting on himself. He was sweaty, and tired, and panting for air, but so grateful that a horrible situation had been avoided. Two Dementor attacks in the same week was unheard of anywhere, including Azkaban, and he knew that he would need to tell a Professor as soon as possible.
"Are you alright?" He asked Cassandra, unsure of how she was feeling. He was so exhausted that all he really wanted was to sleep, but out of politeness it was important that he find out. If she needed the Hospital Wing or a Professor than Maxwell would be able to help her. It was the right thing to do.
"Do you need a Nurse? Or a Professor? Or I can walk you to your Common Room." He was couldn't imagine what she was thinking about, because he couldn't even grasp his own thoughts. One thing was for sure, they would remember each other for the rest of their lives.

Her body was so cold and so tense since she was ready to run. Honestly she was ready to go cast the spell if needed since she knew the basic idea of how to do it. Deep down she was scared but she was trying to stay focused on the situation and what they needed to do. But honestly she knew that they had to run and do it soon, so she was relieved when he said that were going to run.
Quietly she took a deep breath and prepared herself. Hopefully her body would respond because she was so cold right now. Would her body actually move when she told it to? Well she would find out on the count of three.
Right when he was about to say three she started to feel the cold vanish. After laying there for a few seconds she turned her head and saw the dementor leaving. "We'd better get back inside before it comes back." She said and was trying to stay quiet in case it heard. Carefully she got up and brushed the grass off of her robes.
Then she was surprised when he asked if she was ok and if she needed to go the hospital wing or if he could walk her back to the common room. "I dont think I need the hospital wing. Do you need to go?" She asked just to be poliet. Her mind was racing since she was scared that it was going to come back and now she did not know what to do.
"i dont know." She said and kept adjusting her robes. She was freezing and still sort of shivering, the temperature of the night air had dropped dramatically due to the dementor. "We should just go inside in case it comes back." She said again since really she just wanted to be inside where they could not get.
