[/b] Teacher
GENERAL INFORMATION
FULL NAME: Giancarlo Matleo
NICKNAME(S): Gian (John), Gianni (Johnny), Carlo, Carl, Matt, Matty, Matlay
DATE OF BIRTH: January 17th, 1984
AGE: 27
POSITION: Transfiguration, Astronomy, Care of Magical Creatures.
LINEAGE: Pureblood
WAND: thestral hair, mahogany, 12 inches
[/ul]
APPEARANCE
HAIR: brown
EYES: brown
HEIGHT: 6"1'
WEIGHT: 165
DETAILED:
Gian stands just over six feet and weighs a bit over 160 pounds. He stood with great confidence and walked upright as opposed to slouching. He was a pretty outgoing guy and his posture served as body language to warn people about that. He usually walked with a flare that women liked to see and men were either intimidated by or envied. His smile was endearing to people that he liked, intimidating to enemies, and sarcastic to those who he meant to express that emotion too. You could tell by the way he looked at you what he really felt. He didn't need to hide it (mostly because he couldn't) you could read his body language very well. He had brown hair that is longer than most males and that he wears the same way everyday, just down in it's normal form. He was thinking about getting it cut and probably would at some point, but at the length it was now he was happy with it. He also has brown eyes and the combination of brown and brown, though rather dull, was sometimes a good thing when it came to standing out...because it was so bland.
Giancarlo usually dressed professionally but with a teenage look at the same time. He obviously couldn't dress in rags or in very casual wear, however he didn't like to dress in formal suits or anything like that either. He usually met somewhere in the middle and tried his best to look as young, but as professional as he could. It really wasn't that hard and he thinks he's pulled it off over the past couple of years. He wasn't necessarily really concerned with the way he looked, but he did care enough to look in the mirror every morning and give himself a once over before he left for the day.
He had pretty clear skin overall with minimal breakouts (if any) and limited beauty marks. He didn't have any freckles and he had no piercings anywhere on his body (he didn't think guys should get them anywhere at any time). He also didn't have any tattoos though he was thinking of getting one soon but was having trouble figuring out what to get it of. When he got one though he would get it somewhere that would be hidden with a shirt, pants, or socks so that it was only shown when he wanted it to. His facial hair grew fast but he liked a clean shave so he needed to shave mostly everyday. His beard grew quicker than his moustache so he had to make sure he was more on top of his beard. He didn't wear any glasses nor contacts and had perfect vision.
Gian had pretty good physique. He worked out most of the week and liked to run...a lot. He was a runner for sure and couldn't start his day without his morning jog. He wasn't bulky in the sense where his muscles climbed out of his shirt, but he was fit enough for people to notice. He worked hard for them and was happy that the results showed his hard work.

PERSONALITY
- Transfiguration: Obviously he loves the subject or otherwise he would not be applying for the position. He thinks it's pretty awesome how you can change one thing into another with just a swish or two of your wand.
- Sports:
[/li][li]Adventure:[/u] 9 times out of 10 if you ask Gian to do something he will do it. Whether it's exploring The Forbidden Forest or plotting against a rival. He loves working together with people to do something fun and exciting.
[/li][li]The Night:[/u] Probably because of his adventerous attitude, he likes doing things at night where maybe people don't want to be seen...or maybe he doesn't want to be seen. It's amazing what life people have at night and how it differs so much from their daytime persona.
[/li][li]Creatures:[/u] If he wasn't teaching Transfiguration he would teach astronomy or care of magical creatures. He grew up getting the top marks in his class for care of magical creatures because he liked it so much. But since they are kind of incorporated into Transfiguration, he decided to apply for that instead. Kill two birds with one stone.
[/li][li]Challenging His Students:[/u] He likes challenging his students because that really is the best way to learn. He can come off as a strict person some times and yes, that's because he needs to stand his ground as a teacher. But in the end, his students will no that there was a reason for his actions. Just like his teachers did to him.
[/li][li]Mystery:[/u] He loves challenging problems or mysterious events. They excite him and he loves trying to put together clues and puzzles to get to the answer. He himself has been viewed by many as a mysterious person...I wonder why...
[/li][li]Hogwarts:[/u] Hogwarts is his home away from home and he's loved it ever since he was a first year. To be able to teach at it would be a huge accomplishment for him.
[/li][li]Money:[/u] It's not rude to say, he loved getting paid. Anyone who didn't like money was full out lying. He learned the value of a dollar when he was young and now he just likes it when his contents in his bank in Gringotts goes up.
[/li][li]Girls:[/u] Yes he was heterosexual and yes he is only human. He loves checking out girls and all that jazz. What can he say? He was a guy.
[/li][/ul]
DISLIKES:
- Know-It-Alls:
[/li][li]Slackers:[/u] If you're not going to put in the effort and try just as hard as he himself is, then get out of his class.
[/li][li]Tardiness:[/u] Why are you late? Because you slept in? Really? If a tardy comes in he gets the students to make up for those minutes after class. His class is a specific length of time for a reason.
[/li][li]Whiny People:[/u] He can't stand them. Why do you need to whine for everything? You don't like the homework? Don't come to school. You don't like how it's raining? Get over it. Your ankle really really really hurts? Sit down. Honestly, he hates when people talk just to hear their own voice.
[/li][li]Full Moons:[/u] Full moons were one of the only things in his life that really creeped him out. He hated being outside when there was one out and he hated the howling that goes along with it. Always has freaked him out and always will
[/li][li]20 Questions:[/u] You know those people who come up to you and ask "why?" over and over again until you can't go anymore. He hates them after the first "why." If it's a legit question, great. If you're doing it to bother him or because you're that unintelligent...well...it worked.
[/li][li]Pie:[/u] Yes, he was probably one of the only people in the world who doesn't like pies.
[/li][li]Betrayal:[/u] If he has your back and you screw him over, you have lost a friend and made a huge enemy. You will forever regret it.
[/li][li]Vegetables:[/u] Most of them really don't have much of a taste anyway. Just reminds him that you're eating something from the ground.
[/li][li]Snobs:[/u] I'm sorry, am I too good for you? Well then I'll just be on my way then you snobby little weasel.
[/li][/ul]
STRENGTHS:
- Teaching:
[/li][li]Common Sense:[/u] Most people lack this a great deal but he has a lot of it. He can easily read through students this way
[/li][li]Quidditch:[/u] He was a great athlete back in the day and he still loves to play.
[/li][li]Confidence:[/u] He has a huge amount of confidence in himself which can sometimes be a good thing and sometimes be a bad thing. Though most of the time it is more a good thing than bad
[/li][li]Determination:[/u] He is a very determined person and if he can't do something then he will sit there until he can. He doesn't like giving up, and hasn't given up on much in his life.
[/li][li]Transfiguration:[/u] If he wasn't good at this subject he wouldn't be wanting to teach it. He loves it too much to be bad at it and is determined to make all his students as good as him[/li][/ul]
WEAKNESSES:
- Selfish:
[/li][li]Math:[/u] Although transfiguration he was good at, he could not for the life of him get by in any sort of math field. He tried but there it was a lost cause
[/li][li]Rambler:[/u] If he had the knowledge about something of knew something cool and interesting, or just plain wanted to talk, he had been known by some of his friends as a rambler. He can go on and on about something and not even realize it.
[/li][li]Klutz:[/u] Yes he was sometimes very insecure and tripped or dropped stuff and basically could be a walking disaster. It doesn't necessarily happen too often, but there were days where he wondered.
[/li][li]Heights:[/u] He was terrified of heights and he couldn't stay calm during any sort of height event. The only thing that made him feel comfortable was if he was on his broom playing quidditch and even then did it sometimes make him nervous.[/li][/ul]
ERISED: to be on the wall of fame as one of the best teachers Hogwarts had ever seen
BOGGART: falling from an extremely high altitude and never landing
DEMENTOR: getting stuck on the roof of a building in first year when he was learning how to fly a broom
DETAILED:
Giancarlo has been on the Quidditch team since he was in second year and has been known around his school as one of the best Chaser's of Slytherin ever. He didn't want to sound cocky but it was great to hear that every now and then. He really did try his best and loved the game so much that he just could not bear to be terrible at it. Athleticism rolls in with his competitiveness as he hates to lose and will absolutely do everything he can to prevent that from happening. It's a terrible feeling and he hates to feel it. All the years of Quidditch (along with muggle soccer when he was younger) has made him a great athlete.
Gian was not technically that selfish of a person, but he could be without intending too. He realized half way through his sentences sometimes how he changed the topic to himself (unintentionally) or tried to weed his way into a situation that he wanted to put himself in just so he can get something or see something for himself. He hated not knowing things or not being able to do something so it was sometimes all about him. He wasn't happy with this quality but some things you can't change no matter how much you try.
This guy is one of the most reliable people you will ever come across. If you say be there by 7 he will be there by 7. If you say bring this to the meeting he will bring that to the meeting. He can always be counted on for doing stuff or figuring out situations and he was viewed highly because of it. It was more of habit than anything else for him because he didn't want to be the reason why something was not set to go or the reason why they had to leave late. This was definitely a good quality of his.
Gian was also very determined. He would sit down and try to figure out the answer to a question until he got it, or he would sit with a student for long hours to help them study for a test until they understood everything perfectly. He hated when he finished something half fast or without completely understanding it and it was very rare that he ever would. Giancarlo also had a lot of common sense. He would not need to think about all the possibilities in order to choose the right one. He usually just thinks about it for a quick second and eliminates three options that don't make sense leaving one. His brain works to make the most effective and easiest decisions and that's what he does.
He was a very adventerous person also. He likes thrill and excitement and feeling his adrenaline run through his veins. He hated when he was at home doing nothing and being bored out of his mind. He liked doing things that were knew and exciting. He did this with his friends and it made it that much better. He was very loyal to the people he befriended and would not stand for even a bad joke being said at their expense. Absolutely not. He was a pretty outgoing and friendly guy so meeting people wasn't a weakness of his. He just put on his charm and walked confidently enough to show that he wasn't a shy or awkward person (he wasn't a fan of those people). His teaching style shows this as well.
He was a very intelligent person and although he made mistakes, he was someone who can learn from his mistakes. The chances of him making the same mistake twice are minimal. His intelligence is not something that he was born with but it wasn't a gradual thing either. If he heard it once, he could remember it probably for a couple months. He didn't need to sit down and read through pages and pages over and over again. He just needed to read things over once and he would remember it for a long time. Intelligence comes in many shapes and forms and this was his form. Learning it once, remembering it forever.

HISTORY
MOTHER: Giuliana Tescato, 52, pureblood
FATHER: Carlo Matleo, 56, pureblood
SIBLINGS: Anthony, 22, pureblood
DETAILED:
On January 17th 1984, a baby boy was born into the Matleo family in Venice, Italy. His parents were expecting a girl so they only had picked out girl names so they had to swap their thought process and quickly think of a boy name. Giancarlo was what came to mind since it was kind of a mix between his mother's name (Giuliana) and his father's name (Carlo). They brought him home to an empty house since he was the first born and raised him very well. Venice was a beautiful place to live and a great place to raise a child. Of course, Giancarlo was spoken to in Italian and English so he became bilingual very early on in his life.
Five years after Giancarlo was born, another boy entered the family. They named him Anthony. He remembered being in the hospital after Anthony was born just thinking how his life would change. He now had to share everything with a baby brother, one who would probably get on his nerves a lot of the time. One who would always want to get his way over Gians. One who probably would get more attention over the next couple of years. He didn;t like the fact that he now had a brother and was very distant from him in the first year of his life. However, as time went on and as they both got older, Gian and Anthony became really really close. They looked out for each other and travelled a bit and had some of the same friends despite the huge age difference. It wasn't as bad as Giancarlo thought.
At school Gian was a terrible student. He didnt care about learning and would be the "bother" of the class. He just wanted to get out of there and not learn about math and english. He didn't care enough about it to sit through class. He would get sent to the principals office on many occasions and he just didn't feel like school was for him. He had a lot of friends in his grade, but being only 9 years old you don't have to study as much as you do later on down the road. Though he didn;t study at all and still did average on tests and assignments.
Hogwarts sent him the letter when he was 11 years old. He was in shock when his parents sat him down and told him the news. He will never forget the shocked, excited, and amazed feeling he felt. He was so happy that he could move to a different school and learn magic. That definiately sounded more like him. But wait, he was a wizard? All his life? How could that have been? He was very confused about this but after learning that his parents went to Hogwarts and did all their studies there, he decided it was the best place to go while given the offer. So with that ,he packed his bags and was on the train to Hogwarts faster than he thought he would be.
After getting there he hd the sorting ceremony in which he was sorted into Slytherin. He wasn't sure at the time why he was sorted into the green snake house but as time went on he knew that he was in the right house. Everyone thinks that Slytherins are mean all the time and there's always a catch with them. But the truth is, he did have friends in other houses. He was probably put in there because of his competitive edge, sometimes harsh attitude, and blunt commenting. Whatever the reason, that was his house and he has had no regrets being sorted into there.
Throughout his years, Transfiguration came easy to him. He really enjoyed turning one thing into something else and he was amazed at what he could do with a swish of a wand. He instantly feel in love with it and it came easy to him. Care of Magical Creatures and Astronomy were two others that came really easy to Gianni. It was funny that he was getting the highest marks in three classes that were not necessarily "Slytherin" type classes. He didn't care though, everyone has their own interests and abilities and if this was his than that's ok with him. He loved it so much and was so good at it to the point where he tutored in 7th year and his students did excellent on their exams and tests. He was proud to call himself their tutor and because of that, he wanted to go into teaching.
Giancarlo also was an amazing athlete. Despite his fear of heights, when playing Quidditch that fear seemed to go away. He was on the team ever since second year and was one of the best Caser's the school had ever seen. He really enjoyed playing and he loved the thrill of the game. It was such an awesome sport and he wish that he could still be on a team. He plays for fun but it's not as fun as competing for your school and for your house. He wants to be a Head of House super bad mostly to cheer on his team and possibly coach it so that they could win. That is another goal of his.
After graduating Gian went straight into the field of teaching. He got everything he needed to be a teacher diploma wise and applied to Hogwarts. It was an intense process and he was really hoping to get the position as Transfiguration teacher. He couldn't see himself doing much else with his life. He wanted to teach and be one of the best teachers at the school. Almost give back to Hogwarts for changing his life. He knew he could do it if given the chance, and that's exactly what was given to him.

RP SAMPLE: Here's a recent one from my other character on this site:
"And all that muggle had left was one eye. They say his ghost haunts the Forbidden Forest seeking revenge on all wizards and witches and you never know when he might come and...GET YOU!" Brandon watched as screams of terror and then laughter erupted from the students around the campfire. It seemed to be a good story but Brandon wasn't scared very easily by things he knew weren't real. He looked around at the story teller. A fourth year hufflepuff student. This hufflepuff sure was brave for telling a scary story around a bonfire in front of people she didn't know, but hey, whatever floats your boat. He watched as the girl un-lumosed her wand and too it away from under her chin. It was acting as a flashlight though Brandon never understood why people did that. It didn't make it more scary in the least bit.
The fire was burning brightly and the heat was starting to make Brandon sweat. He stood up from the log he was sitting on and looked around quickly at the people sitting around the bonfire. He didn't know anyone and yet he was still having a pretty good time. He turned around, stepped over the log, and decided to start walking. He was getting kind of board of scary stories and he wanted to go and do something a bit more interesting. Night had fallen and this bonfire was a great event though he didn't expect it would be. He didn't think many people would show up but there was a huge outcome and it was fantastic. It reminded him of when he used to go camping as a little boy with his family. He missed those days...oh how he missed them.
He came across the Forbidden Forest. He had never actually stepped foot in the forest before, and he had always wanted to try. He wasn't sure though if tonight was the best night to do it. There were tons of Hogwarts Staff around and he didn't want to go in, break a rule, and then have to be removed from the bonfire event or have house points taken away from his house...or both. He wasn't sure if he should do it or not. He started to turn around, but as soon as he did he heard some walking from inside the forest. He stopped and slowly turned his head a bit over his shoulder. He could hear the walking getting deeper and deeper into the woods. Now this really sucked because instead of being scared like a normal person would. He really wanted to figure out who was in there and why. It could've been anything really! This was exciting him and his curiousity was biting at his stomach. He had to go in and figure it out.
He looked around to make sure that no one was watching, and then when the cost was clear, he moved aside a couple branches with his hand and entered the Forbidden Forest. It was quite dark in there so he decided to lighten up the field a bit. "Lumos" he said. A bright light came from his wand, but he dimmed it as much as he could. He didn't want to draw too much attention to himself. He stepped over logs and ducked under branches. He couldn't find anyone who had been making the noise but he was determined to. He went a little bit deeper very slowly, the bonfire still shining in the background. That would be a great way to figure out where out is later on.[/ul][/size][/blockquote]
