Liam smiled as he headed out to the lawn with his sketch pad tucked under one arm. It was a devious sort of smile. He was glad to be back for the start of the new school year, which he’d never actually admit to anyone. It amused him to see his teachers get annoyed with him for his utter lack of dedication to his classes. They all knew how brilliant he was, but he never put any effort into completing the homework. Now he was to start preparing for his NEWTs, but still had no idea what sort of career path he might want to pursue so he had been dragging his feet as far as picking his classes.
But this year would be different and Liam knew it. This year his aunt was there as one of the professors. He was actually a little afraid of having her as a teacher. He knew how terrifying she could be when she was angry so he might actually attempt the homework for her class. But even aside from that, he wanted to try and impress her with how well he knew the information. Despite what people thought he actually was rather proud of the accumulation of knowledge that was in his brain. He just had a habit of pretending that he didn’t care.
Settling himself in the grass once he felt he was a good distance from the school entrance, he positioned his sketch pad in his lap and pulled a small box of charcoals out of his pocket. He took out a charcoal piece before setting the box next to him in the grass. Placing the charcoal against the pad, he made the first marks on the paper. He started sketching the view in front of him which just so happened to be the quidditch pitch. He got a rough sketch done and then set the charcoal on top of the box before he lay back in the grass with his sketch pad still in his lap.
