DETAILED:
Adam is pretty much your average bloke. Your average, drop-dead-gorgeous-but-doesn't-know-it kinda bloke. He has naturally straight, fairly long, brown hair which he is constantly flicking out of his eyes. His eyebrows are heavy set and the same rich brown as his hair. His nose is straight (a miracle considering the amount of tail lashes to the face he's had) and his eyes are a warm brown. Many find themself drawn to his eyes, a trait he finds irritating as a socially inept man. His lips are full and he has a big smile when he chooses to use it. There is a small cleft in his chin which he's massively self-conscious of, having heard most of the 'bum-chin' jokes going over the years.
His body is muscular and tanned from hours of working outdoor with creatures of all sizes and strengths. Across his back is a large scar from left shoulder to right hips from a incident a few years ago with a bihorn. The scar is fully healed and white in appearance but it means Adam rarely takes his shirt off, only when absolutely necessary or in front of those he feels extremely comfortable with. Because of his work, he can normally be seen in heavy duty, canvas trousers and similar material shirts, large fox-skin boots and a heavy fur coat during the winter. Outside of lessons and on the rare occasion he is out socially, he's happiest in a pair of scruffy jeans and a simple t-shirt.
He has a tendency to walk slightly hunched over, mostly from years of carrying heavy feed bags or dragging reluctant creatures by a rope. However, when teaching, the excitement of sharing his passion with those who want to learn about it, causes him to stand up straight and normally pace in front of his class. On social occasions, Adam is usually seen in a corner somewhere, hunched over a pint of his hands, on the edges of a group.

DETAILED:
The biggest part of Adam's personality and the impression that he normally makes on people is that he loves animals and that they are the biggest passion in his life. Socially he is more of a moth than a butterfly, unless you ask him something about a magical creature, in which case his eyes light up, his face is full of excited enthusiasm and his speech becomes animated and intense. He is quick to judge and those who proclaim "Oh, I never really liked animals" he shortly dismisses as not worth his time or effort. Women who are attracted by his looks are usually put-off by his initial awkwardness, as are potential friends, meaning that most of Adam's friends are the chatter-boxes as they're the only ones willing to keep talking to someone so unresponsive. Adam is so single minded though, and so passionate about what he cares for that any friends or girlfriends do feel truly valued.
Aside from animals, his other passion is teaching, a calling which, now that he has found, he would never give up. He loves to pass on his enthusiasm about magical beasts and loves the moment where he introduces a new animal and his classes' faces light up. His passion about the subject usually makes lessons fun and interesting. However, he is known as one of the strictest teachers at Hogwarts and he is proud of this reputation. In Adam's opinion, his lessons is one of the most dangerous because living creatures are so unpredictable. He is strict at enforcing rules and demanding attention when he speaks in order that his entire class remain safe.
When with close friends, and sometimes in class, Adam can be fun and light-hearted with a smile that is rare but all the more brilliant for it. Those who have never experienced it before, are often surprised by his sense of humour which is witty and clever.

HISTORY
MOTHER: Ellen, 62, half blood
FATHER: Daniel, deceased, pure blood
SIBLINGS: Sarah, 25, half blood & Jonathan, 22, half blood
DETAILED:
Adam was born in Wales, to an all magical family, in a largely wizarding village. Therefore he knew of magic and magical creatures long before his Hogwarts letter arrived. He has two younger siblings but spent barely any time with them as a child, choosing to collect magical creatures in his bedroom or dissect billywigs and other such animals he had sent off for. At Hogwarts he didn't make friends easily but did eventually find himself in a fairly tight group who remained friends all through their school years. Adam was known as a bit of an oddball, usually off exploring the forest or the lake while his friends went to Quidditch matches or played games in the sunshine. His favorite lessons right from the outset were Care of Magical Creatures and Herbology, although the first was his real passion. As such, he befriended the teacher, who took to the quiet but excitable boy and invited him along to help set up lessons, prepare or look after some of the castle's creatures. As he progressed through school Adam became a sort of unofficial helper to his COMC professor.
After leaving school, he enrolled in a programme to study magical beasts internationally and found himself on the team studying bicorns across seas. He had been working with the group about two years when an accident occurred in which a bicorn both its horns in a straight line across Adam's entire back. Luckily he was moving away and the damage wasn't paralysing or fatal, but it did leave him in St Mungo's for six months while the magical would healed. Once given the all clear by healers, he went back into the field, this time as a head researcher of a team trekking through South America. During this trip, Adam received a letter from his old COMC professor informing Adam of his intention to leave his teaching post and saying that he could think of no one better to take his place. Adam was sat in the headmaster's office a week later where he was offered the job. He took to it like a Grindelow to water and has never looked back, finding just as much to discover in the Forbidden Forest as in the American jungles.
Relationships wise, because of his social awkwardness, Adam's only ever had two girlfriends, one in his last years of Hogwarts and one fellow enthusiast while they studied together overseas. Both were serious relationships lasting more than two years but both fell apart on mutual terms.

QUESTIONS: Where are the loos in this place?
RP SAMPLE:
Adam blinked heavily as he stepped out of the forest trees and back into the brilliant September sunshine. His working cloths were heavy and hot in this weather but he knew in a couple of months he would be more than grateful for them. He pulled his shirt from his sweating back, grimacing at the thought of it sticking to the scar which so disfigured his body. The young man pulled a piece of white cloth from his trouser pocket and mopped his brow. The cloth returned to the pocket looking somewhat browner than when it had appeared. Adam looked off into the distance. He could see the vegetable patch behind the groundkeeper's hut and in the other direction, the great double doors to the castle. He set off along the forest edge in the direction of the castle until he came to a small cabin, nothing compared to the size of the one the Groundkeeper lived in, and produced the key from the other pocket. The lock turned with a low creak and slight hint of rust and the door pushed open on reluctant hinges. Inside the dingy room there was only a small basin with mirror overlooking, a tidy desk with chair tucked in and a small chest of drawers. Adam removed his shirt with a small groan (his back still stiffened up after a lot of intense physical work) and threw it in a corner of the room. Walking to the basin, he ran the cold tap and found himself a sponge. He dabbed down his chest, back and face, feeling fresher for the cleanliness and chill. He wiped his face on the towel which hung next to the sink before studying himself in the mirror. Hmm, he could do with a shave, and he definitely needed more sleep - he had more bags under his eyes than platform 9 and 3/4 on September the first! Still, the day was only beginning and he had four lessons to get through today.
He turned from the basin and took a fresh, lighter t-shirt from the chest of drawers, pulling it over his head with another slight groan. After another quick check in the mirror, Adam left the hut, pulling the door shut, and locking it behind him. He turned, once more to survey the grounds, rubbing the stubble across his chin with a strong, coarse hand as he did so. He still had ten minutes before lessons were due to start but students were already appearing at the top of the castle stairs. Adam liked to be the first to arrive to his own lessons so, replacing the key, he set off towards the area where his lessons took place.
