FRIENDS...

Des is good person at her heart and will be a very loyal and caring friend if given the chance. She tends to be nervous and distrusting of most people. She tends to be especially awkward around her students. She's new to teaching and as such doesn't quite feel like she's gotten the hang of it yet. The idea of interacting with students is a little scary as it is still new and unfamiliar territory for her, but that's not to say that she couldn't become friends with a student. As far as friends go, anyone trustworthy, dependable and able to tolerate her insane quirky personality will certainly be welcome.

ENEMIES...

One description that always comes to mind for Des is chronically suspicious. Des is suspicious of practically everyone she meets. She is not above stalking anyone she thinks could be trouble to find out what's going on when her auror instincts kick in. Besides, who doesn't need someone to fight with?

LOVERS...

Being a widow, Des has herself convinced that she's had her chance at having true love and that another chance won't come around. However, it would be interesting to see how she reacts to any would-be suitors if anyone is interested.

WHATEVER...

Des is open to pretty much any plots and ideas that anyone has so if you think Des would work well in a plot idea, suggest it and we'll see what we can work out!

They both seem like pretty anxious people, and I think folks like that seem to stick together, even if they don't talk often. The companionship is still there. Augustus is divorced, so he kind of feels like he's already 'loved and lost' as well (although not on the scale she has, to be sure). He would be fine with her untrusting nature, because he generally is too trusting and wishes he was less gullible to new people's kindness. I think their personalities complement each other a lot, and if they werent close friends than Augustus would still feel more comfortable in her company than he does in others.

I could definitely see these two getting along, as long as Augustus doesn't mind her sarcastic ways and the fact that she refuses to say much about her past. They're both intellectuals as well as slightly socially awkward so I imagine there would be some sort of instant companionship there and I could see them spending a lot of time together having conversations about all kinds of things...as long as those topics don't travel to Des' past. Since he is so trusting, I think that would put Des at ease in his company. I was about to put up an open thread if you want to join in.

He probably wouldn't poke too hard at it, but at first he'd be very intruiged. He understands privacy, though, and wouldn't interfere if he thought he was being a bother. He'd be really excited to have somebody to talk to, although it would probably show itself in some awkward way.

Also I'd love that! Open thread sounds great. Just point me in the right direction :)
