Thelma sat in her chair, as she did almost every morning, even if she didn’t have to teach that day. It was her morning routine to wake up go down to the great hall, grab a cup of coffee, and maybe a muffin, then she made her way to her class room. When she would arrive there would always be a morning paper sitting on her desk, via the House elf’s. Thelma would sit down drink, eat, and read. She had been doing this since her first day as a teacher, and was planning on doing it for as long as she was a teacher.
Thelma had her lessons planned for the rest of the year. She had a thing for organization. Her class room was always in tip-top shape, not an inch of paper or another kind of rubbish would spoil the ground. Thelma loved her class room, when she first became a teacher, she hated it, the room was boring and ugly, and was in desperate need to be decorated. Within a mouth the class room was bright and cheery with sunshine yellow walls, and green desks, and book shelves. She thought that a warmer and happier environment helped the students learn better.
Was the ding or the morning bell, Thelma started to hear people scuffle along outside. This morning there would be no need for her to write anything on the board. As her usually early students started to fill in Thelma put her paper down, trying to be polite as possible. She said her good mornings to the students that had already walked in. Now that the students started to mingle among one another, Thelma picked up her paper and started to read again.
Putting down her paper until she heard the multiple locks click on her door. She looked up at her class, and saw a full room, with happy faces, always a joy. “Good morning class.” Thelma flashed everyone a smile. “There will be no need for paper or quills today, just your wands,” Thelma saw that some of her students had already taken out paper and hopefully they took the hint to put it away. As she promised last lesson she was going to award house points to whoever could cast that Patronus.
“As I promised last lesson, show me your patrouns and I will award house points.” Thelma was excited to see if anymore of her students had gotten the spell, she hoped they had. Standing up Thelma waved her wand and the desks disappeared. There were a few clunks of bags dropping to the floor after they had been on the desks.

Kenny made his way down the halls with a smile on his face and an eager attitude as he was making his way to his second day of charms class ready for anything. The other day, he earned some house points for his explanation of the Patronus Charm and really felt like this class was going to be good so far. He already had a feeling that the professor of this class had a fair and nice attitude toward the students and with that he would not have to feel scared about anything at all. Before he opened the door he checked to make sure his wand was with him and then he checked to see if he had his school supplies was with him as he entered the classroom.
As soon as he got in the classroom he waved at Professor Ataman and greeted her with a Good Morning to her as he made his way to his seat as he sat down and waited for the bell to begin the class. He remembered that before class got out the other day that the professor informed the students to go and practice the charm and showed it to her by next class to earn bonus house points. Kenny did practice the charm back at his common room after the first day of class and 8 out of 10 tries he got the charm which was honestly a tough task because of keeping the good memory intact but he got through the task and had a feeling that he was ready to show the charm to Professor Ataman.
When the bell for class rang and the students were already seated, Kenny listened on as Professor Ataman asked the class if anyone would like to show her there Patronus Charm as she waved the wand causing the desks to vanish. Kenny raised his hand up as the Professor noticed him and got up with his wand in hand ready to impress her. He moved to the location of where he should demonstrate as he had his wand ready and begin to close his eyes a bit to concentrate the memory that he had to help him which was winning the house cup in his third year at Hogwarts. After a few deep breaths he opened his eyes and proceeded to say the incantation. “Expecto Patronum” he said in a clearly and loud tone as his wand flashed and then sure enough the blue point Himalayan cat shot out of his wand as it meowed in a friendly tone as it purred at him and looked at Professor Ataman and meowed as if it was saying hello. Finally Kenny waved his wand again the cat vanished into the silver mist like the last time as Kenny hoped that it was impressive.

A Charms class again, and as always, Arianne was quite well prepared. After being unable to do the spell the last class, she had practiced it about half a hundred times. Over the course of the practice, the small light had intensified, and then gotten dimmer, and finally, she'd had a breakthrough with a particular memory that had finally gotten out her patronus - a beautiful tiny hummingbird. She'd then read up more on owls (they werent her favorite animal - well, she didnt like any animals, but they seemed better than most) and it was certainly known to be persistent and hardworking, if not so very strong - which Arianne thought described her pretty well. With this breakthrough in mind, she was excited to go to Charms class - it made her feel like she'd accomplished something amazing.
She walked into class and smiled at the teacher and at the hufflepuff boy who was always early for every class, pretty much like her. "Good morning," she said pleasantly to both of them. The class was almost deserted, which meant she'd come at the ideal time. She took a seat in the front row, and slowly started taking out her things and arranging them in her neat, perfect style. It was only when she was done that she took a deep breath and decided to calm herself down. Now she could concentrate on class. She wondered why it was so important that everything was in order, and then decided it was probably because it set the mood for the whole class. If she wasnt prepared, it didnt feel like she was in class at all, and her mind wasnt tuned in to pay attention.
That was when Professor Ataman asked them if any of them had managed to accomplish a patronus. She raised her hand immediately - she had, after all, put in a lot of hard work in it. She concentrated hard on her favorite happy memory - a good, almost perfect grade-sheet from her last year. "Expecto patronum!" she said, clearly, but once again she got only a spluttering light. That just made her nervous. She'd been having good accuracy last night, what had happened? She concentrated and said the words again. "Expecto Pa-Patronum!" she said, but this time her voice was shaky and nothing came out at all. She looked at the Professor beseechingly for one more try. She cleared her mind as the Transfiguration teacher advised, and said, "Expecto Patronum!" At once, the tiny bird started whirring around the room at full speed. She smiled, and then waved her wand to make it disappear. Nothing happened. She did again, a little more desperately, and was glad that it did finally disappear, and then she sat down, looking red-faced and embaressed.
Not her best performance, by far.

Post by Scarlett Viceroy on May 31, 2011 7:07:38 GMT -5
It was time for Charms class again and Scarlett couldn't have been more excited and nervous! She had spent most of the last class so preoccupied with watching the other students practice their Patronus Charm and seeing what animals might appear that she hadn't spent much of the class time practicing on her own charm...
Disappointed with herself and concerned that she would be able to impress Professor Ataman, who had quickly become one of her favorite professors so far in this term, she spent hours upon hours practicing outside of class, out by the Black Lake hoping to conjure up a most impressive Patronus. After several attempts to struggle to find a pure and powerful memory of happiness she had only managed bunches of silvery mist. It wasn't until Scarlett searched her soul, reaching way back into her past to a time when family was truly family and the world seemed perfect that she had found her powerful Patronus...
Upon entering class Professor Ataman smiled, with a warm "Good Morning" and Scarlett smiled brightly back with an equally warm welcome, trying to stifle any hint of nerves at the upcoming practicum. "Good morning Professor Ataman!", she smiled and quickly took a seat behind the Ravenclaw girl she remembered from last class...
Her seat didn't last for long as the professor quickly did away with the desks and announced the challenge set forth. Students would be awarded house points for successfully conjuring up their Patronus Charm. Scarlett's smile wavered for a moment and then grew big, bigger than before. She was ready and prepared for this, she was ready for her moment...
Scarlett watched as a younger Hufflepuff boy enthusiastically went first. It seemed rather impressive for a younger year to conjure up his charm so well but Scarlett couldn't help but find his rather adorable. She giggled softly watching the small cat meow and walk around near the boy...
Then it was the Ravenclaw's turn. Scarlett took a step back and watched as the girl seemed to struggle with her charm. Scarlett wore a face of support as the girl was finally able, through several tries to conjure up a small bird. She smiled sweetly out of support to the Ravenclaw as the girl sunk back, red faced...
Scarlett was almost biting at the nip when Professor Ataman finally called upon the excited Gryffindor. "Thank you..." she said politely as she pulled out her wand from beneath her robes and stepped towards the center of the room. It would be now or never. This was her moment and she hoped that the impressive sight she witnessed in the forest would now be witnessed by her professor and class...
Scarlett took a deep breath, "Okay...you can do this!" she whispered in a hush to herself. With her wand ready in hand, Scarlett closed her eyes tightly and let her mind fall deep into the mists of her past, to her childhood back in Ireland. The music, the laughter and the love that surrounded her then. It called to her, it engulfed her mind, body and soul and as if a jolt of lightening had shot down from the heavens and struck her Scarlett's eyes shot open as her voice echoed through the classroom with power...
"EXPECTO PATRONUM!" she ordered, her voice almost at a scream so overcome with the memories of her past. Her arm shot straight out as she commanded the charm and a bright burst of light gleamed from the end of her wand as what looked like a rather large bird shot across the room. Flying around the class with a trail of silvery light and mist it flew once round and then landed near Scarlett's feet as it spread it's grand tail feathers, letting it be identified as none other than a majestic Peacock, it's feathers in full bloom...
Scarlett's face beamed almost as bright as the impressive tail of silver and blue as she smiled to her Patronus and then to her professor. The Peacock turned from side to side, almost strutting its stuff as it allowed for one and all to gaze at it's beautiful feathers and then it seemed, at least to Scarlett to almost bow to her as her eyes sparkled and waved her wand regrettably over the bird and it vanished in a lingering mist of silvery light...
A peacock, of course! Scarlett's smiled beamed from ear to ear as she tugged one of her peacock feather earrings and held her wand firmly to her chest, still over come with excitement. She was proud of herself and hopefully Professor Ataman would be as well. of Caution 2.0. Please don't steal.[/ul][/blockquote]

The first one had not gone exactly as planned as he couldn't get his patronus to work as well as some of the other students. He had practiced a bit though and thought that he had definitely gotten better over time. Practice does make perfect after all especially with a really intense spell such as this one. He walked into the room, gave a nod to the professor, and sat near the back. He noticed that Arianne was already there as was Scarlett. He also saw the same boy that was in all his classes. Man they were punctual weren't they.
He listened as the professor asked people to show them their patronus. He watched as the boy did his very quickly and was able to create his. Arianne was also able to quickly come up with her patronus and allowed it to fly around the class. Scarlett was next and hers also came through. The professor then called on Brandon and he immediately got nervous. He wasn't confident that he can do this under pressure and after watching these three go before him, he knew he had a lot to match up to. Oh why did he have to be called on. So much pressure going on right now in his mind. He calmed himself down with a deep breath and pulled out his wand. He nodded at his professor implying he understood it was his turn, and concentrated at the task at hand.
He put his wand in front of him and cleared his mind. He then said "Expecto Patronum!" in a clear and confident voice but a light was all that came out. It flickered and waved in the classroom and he was instantly discouraged. He knew that some of the others didn't get it right on the first try either but he was so determined to get it and he didn't like failure. He had done it before he can do it again. He cleared his mind once more, closed his eyes, took a deep breath and then looked ahead and said "Expecto Patronum!" again. This time a wolf patronus was formed howling in the classroom and weaving in and out of the desks like a playful dog on a mission. He felt instant relief and was so happy that he had shown the class and the professor that he, in fact, could do this. He put his wand back on his desk and smiled at the professor. Phew.
