. like a waterfall in slow motion word.count. - tags - outfit ------------------------------------------------------------------ 6:45 PM, and Liz was in the Astronomy class, waiting for her class to arrive. She'd had her first class for the younger years on Monday. She'd gone a lot easier on them, and had loved to see the excitement in their eyes when learning about astronomy, for some of them, learning about it for the first time. It was her first year teaching here, and she definitely wanted to make an impression.
Today, it was the 4th and 5th years. And on Saturday, she'd be teaching the 6th and 7th years. She made sure that all of the materials that she would be needing were there. In the classroom, there were about twenty desks, give or take. And then her desk, which she was sitting at as she made sure she was prepared for her lesson. There was also an upper part to her classroom. There were stairs that led to that upper part. In that upper part were telecopes and other materials with which the students would need in order to look at the stars and be able to find planets and other things which Liz would want them to find, and to know for the examination at the end of the year.
Liz was a single-parent. But this teaching position was at night, so that left most days that she could spend with her daughter. Of course, she did have to have time to prepare for her lessons as well. She lived in a small cottage not far from Hogwarts with her parents actually. And they took care of her daughter when she was not around. But she really tried hard to be there for her daughter as often as she could.
But teaching Astronomy had been her dream. And her late husband Cameron had fully supported her when she'd worked so hard while he'd been alive, and she'd continued after his death knowing that he would want that, and in order to provide for her and her daughter. All of the telecopes in the upper part of her classroom were the best telescopes you could get, and most had been bought and paid for by Cameron. He'd bought her the equipment one Christmas, and she'd been really surprised. And now it was coming in handy this year as she'd finally reached her goal of becoming the astronomy teacher here at Hogwarts.
Another good thing was that she'd been in contact with her mentor, the previous astronomy teacher that had taught here all while Liz was in school. For that, Liz was grateful. So far though, so good. She'd only heard good reports about her first class. And she hoped to continue that. So, she sat at her desk and simply waited for the students to file in and take their seats. .

Post by Kenny Micheal Templeson on May 26, 2011 12:11:05 GMT -5
Today was Thursday and it seemed like the week was about to come to an end, however the weekend was not till Friday as Kenny had his school bag and his stuff ready for class. However this class was not like any other classes that he has been to here in Hogwarts because this class was taking place around the evening. The class that he was heading to was called Astronomy which was something that was actually new to him. It wasn’t that he knew much about it but he was willing to take a chance and learn new things this year so that he would not just rely on the same old classes that he is familiar with.
As he entered the classroom which happened to be on the seventh floor he was amazed to see that the room was far more different than the previous classes he has been to. He noticed that the classroom had an upstairs room which seemed pretty unusual and had a pretty good feeling that something was going to happen upstairs in today’s lesson. He looked around the classroom hoping that probably some of the students made it here only to find that it was probably too early to even start class even though he like to make it to class early so that he can find a good seat and at least greet the professor and students that are also early to class. As he moved further to find a place to sit he noticed that upstairs were telescopes which made him wonder will the students be able to use those telescopes in this class? He did not want to ask too many questions though in his first day of Astronomy class so he decided to shrug it off and find a nice seat which as always by the front row to be able to hear what the Professor will talk to the students about when class begins.
As he placed his stuff down and got out his supplies he looked around and noticed that one other person was here and it was actually the Professor. He gave a nervous smile at the professor and waved at her and said good evening to her before going back to his school bag and getting his quill ready to write down some notes to learn about what would the first lesson of this class would be. After getting his supplies prepared and ready, Kenny stay seated and waited for class to start to see if any other students were coming to this class at all.

The seventh floor was pretty high up there but it was time for his astronomy class. He was looking forward to this one since it wasn't one of the mandatory ones to take. Not to mention the fact that he had always had an interest in the stars. He thought it was so cool how there were millions of these specks up there that all meant something. They created constellations which had meaning and the planets in which are always in orbit. It was hard to explain his fascination with the subject but it was there nonetheless. He didn't expect too many people to sign up and attend this class though which was a shame.
He walked into the classroom and noticed that he was more early than he thought. There was only one student sitting quietly there so far (whom he had seen in many of his other classes but still had not spoken to). The professor was also in the room looking as if she was ready to begin and eager to meet the class this term. He quietly smiled at her and said a warm "Hello professor." She looked sweet and friendly and he hoped that the look and vibe he felt wasn't a trick. He took a seat in the middle of the classroom and looked up at the layer above the roof. He had always been interested to go up there and that's why he was excited for this class to begin. He couldn't wait to see what there was to see and do what there was to do in terms of astronomy. He started unpacking his back and waited for the class to begin.

Liberty glanced at her watch as she made her way to the Astronomy classroom, the highest classroom in Hogwarts. It was twenty minutes to six, meaning she was going to be very early. She felt excitement stirring up in her, as this was definitely a subject that interested her. Liberty loved the outdoors, nature, the sky.. so studying the stars and planets and such certainly appealed to her. The bag slung across her back had about three or four different text books on astronomy (she had only refrained from putting more because they would not fit), and her quill, ink and parchment. Thankfully her common room was in a tower, so it was not as long a walk as if she had been in the Dungeons, for example. She climbed up the various staircases finally reaching sight of the Astronomy classroom.
Entering the classroom, she saw two other students and the professor already there. It was probably quarter to by now, give or take a couple of minutes. "Good after-evening, Professor," she said, her cheeks turning slightly red at the mistake as she mentally scolded herself. Trust her to say something stupid the first time she ever spoke to a new professor. It was her first evening class, and she was so used to telling her professors good morning or good afternoon that it had just slipped out automatically. Attempting to push it out of her mind, she glanced around to see if there was anyone she would sit next too. There was a hufflepuff boy whom she had never spoken too, and a boy form her House, Brandon, whom she preferred not to sit by. She was still a little humiliated by the whole following him into the forest incident.
She headed over to one of the desks that were around the middle of the classroom and sat down. Taking her bag off of her back she put it on her lap, taking out her quill, ink, parchment and one of the text books to prepare for the class. Only as a result of her excitement, she dipped the quill in the ink and already began writing on the parchment (the date, class, term and class number), even though she was not even sure if they would be taking any notes.
hey it’s, finished! cause you’re awesome, everyone in Astronomy they’re all, 382 words i love them, template @ + stockholm syndrome / lyrics @ the script *live like we’re dying just letting you know, “IMAGEcredit natalie@caution”

. like a waterfall in slow motion word.count. - tags - outfit ------------------------------------------------------------------ Kadie filed in and took her seat just before being tardy. It wasn't like her not to be more on time, but she'd been hanging out with James and had lost track of the time. But she was still on time, and that's all she cared about. Besides, James had had her laughing really hard over something or other, and it had been a great time. She got her things ready and looked up at professor Davis, ready for the lesson to begin.
Professor Davis smiled and greeted all of her students by name as they filed in, and had something kind to say to each of them, or just a little comment. She had made sure to memorize the names and the faces. Because any good teacher came to know the names of their students right? She wanted each of them to feel that they were cared about, and that at least she had made the time to try to get to know them before they came to her class.
"I hope all of you have had a good week so far. I know that first week back at classes can be tough and full of adjustment. I know you all know that your O.W.L's are coming up and I'm sure all of the other teachers are already breathing down your necks. I'm not really going to do that. I do expect a lot out of my students, but if you pay attention and are here ready to learn, all of you should be just fine when those examinations come up. So I'm not going to harp on about the examinations all that much. I'm sure you'll get it enough. I will be sure to let you know the material that will be covered in the examinations though,"she said, walking around a bit as she did see, looking at each of her students and giving tiny smiles to each of them as she did so.
"Now, I hope you all come to enjoy astronomy. I love it so much, otherwise, I wouldn't be teaching the subject. A little bit about me, my name is Liz. Professor Davis sort of makes me feel old. So feel free to just call me Liz, okay? If you feel uncomfortable addressing a professor in those terms, feel free to call me Professor Davis though. I'm twenty-four. I was in Hufflepuff house when I attended Hogwarts. I'm a single mother of a four-year-old daughter named Ally, whom I love very much. My husband died about three years ago now. This is my first year teaching here, and I'm really excited to be able to share with you my passion for the stars. Now, before we begin. I'd like to start off with something fun first, to get us all acquainted here. Uh, Ms. Taylor, would you please give your name, your house, and anything at all you want to tell about yourself. It doesn't have to be what you told me in your signups. But something different. Maybe something your peers don't know about you, and then call on one of your peers to give something about themselves after you're done, please,"she said as she took a seat on top of the desk.
She'd decided in the beginning to be upfront about her daughter and about what had happened to her husband instead of dealing with the questions. She would be seen with her daughter by these students and she hadn't wanted to deal with any of the whispers wondering if she was married or whatever. So she'd decided to just always be honest and open about herself with her students. She hadn't told these students as a pity thing. She didn't need anybody's pity. Her husband had been gone now for awhile, and while it still hurt, she was here. She was going strong. Now that she'd mentioned it and her daughter, she figured she wouldn't have to talk about it again with them, and she wouldn't have to deal with any speculation or whispers either, at least not about a husband that they wouldn't have known about had she not mentioned it.
Kadie looked at the professor and stood up. "I'm Kadie Taylor. I'm in Gryffindor house. Something interesting about me, well I'd like to travel the world someday. Just go all over. It's one of my dreams,"she replied. Luckily she was magical and when she was old enough to apparate, she knew she'd be using that to her advantage. Growing up in a muggle household, she'd always dreamed of traveling the world and seeing things. Her family was rich so they had gone to some places, but she'd been with either her mom or dad, usually not with them together. And she dreamed of going by herself or with James.
"Brandon, you can go,"she replied calling on him before settling back in her seat. This was interesting. A Professor who was starting out the lessons this way, taking the time to actually hear what the students had to say before diving right into the lessons. That was what she was used to. I mean, the O.W.L's were upon them, and so the Professors had all just dived right into the lessons wanting as much time as possible to cover the necessary material. But Professor Davis was starting it out differently, and Kadie wasn't too sure how she felt about that. She didn't usually trust adults, but this adult seemed to genuinely want to get to know her students, and Kadie felt an almost grudging admiration for her. Of course, she hadn't heard her teach really yet, so then she would be able to tell more about her abilities. .
