It was the beginning of the year, and this year, Hogwarts was holding a bonfire. Emmalee was really excited for it because, not only was it a chance to be around her friends, but it was a chance to make new ones. She loved making friends, as long as they were people that treated her with respect, or anyone for that matter. She just hoped that nothing would happen at this thing. She would hate it if someone caused drama and then the whole thing was ruined. But of course, you also had to expect it and be prepared for it because it always happened. There were so many people that liked to mess around or cause problems. Emmalee tried to avoid those kind of people because she didn't like to be angry. If she was angry, there was a real reason for it. But, she didn't like it. What she hated most about it, was how she acted toward people when she was. Sometimes she would snap at people who didn't deserve it and wasn't even apart of the situation because she was in a bad mood. Then of course she would get upset and apologize about it. So, the better bet was to just avoid getting angry.
When she had arrived at the area of the bonfire, she searched around for someone she might know. Unfortunately she didn't spot anyone at the moment and everyone around was talking to someone they knew or didn't know, but were getting acquainted to. She let a sigh escape from her lips as she turned to walk toward the lake. Maybe she could find something interesting to do while she was waiting for more people to show up. When she reached the lake, she knelt down beside it and stuck one of her hands in the water to see how cold it was. It was a bit chilly, but not too cold. She wasn't going to jump in or anything, but she did feel like sticking her feet in. Which is exactly what she did.
Emmalee let herself lean back so that she was now seated on the ground and she slipped off her sandals before she placed her feet in the water. It felt refreshing compared to the heat of the night. She leaned back onto her hands and tilted her head up to look at the night sky. She always thought that the stars were pretty and the moon when it shined through the darkness. It was really relaxing and kind of... beautiful. It would be a perfect night for a romantic evening, if she was dating anyone, but she didn't have a boyfriend, which was okay. She wasn't really looking. Of course if she found someone she really liked and they asked her out, she would say yes, but she wasn't desperate. After that thought, she leaned back all the way and stretched her arms out beside her, feeling the coolness of the grass. She was very relaxed and was almost happy she didn't find anyone to talk to. She was enjoying the silence and the view of the sky by herself. She closed her eyes for a moment and kicked her feet a bit in the water. She felt perfect. Like nothing, or no one, could ruin this moment.

. falling in love as she's walking away and my heart won't tell my mind to tell my mouth what it should say . Brandon heard about the bonfire but wasn't sure if he wanted to go. He loved school events but there was something about the whole idea that kind of turned him off. He wasn't sure what it was but he wasn't planning on letting it hold him back. He grabbed a brown, long sleeved shirt and threw it on. Put on some deoderant and some cologne and started his trek to where the bonfire was held. He wasn't going with anybody but he was sure he'd see someone he knew there. It was a school wide event after all, so the chances of him meeting someone were extremely high. He left the castle and started his trek outdoors to the outskirts of the school.
The weather was really nice and he was glad it wasn't a gloomy or stormy evening. It would suck to have to camp outside in the rain. He wasn't planning on actually sleeping outside but if the time came and he felt like it then his mind could easily be changed. He had camped before with his family back home, but they weren't outdoorsy type people so it didn't happen very often. That's the one thing was different about him and his parents and that was the fact that he loved the outdoors.
He finally saw the bonfire. It wasn't too dark out yet but it was definitely time for that fire to be lit. The heat was absurdly high but it was getting a bit cool so it evened out nicely. He looked around and noticed the lake gleaming in the sun...wait a second. That wasn't the lake gleaming. It was Emmalee. He remembered her from their little meeting on the hill. She was such a unique girl and such a beautiful one at that. Everytime Brandon looked at her it was as if she was gleaming in the sun. She was absolutely gorgeous and her personality carried her as well. He had to go talk to her, he couldn't help it. He started walking over and realized that she was lying on the grass again appearing very relaxed. Ah, some things just don't change.
He wasn't sure if he should disturb her relaxation but he did anyway. "Alright so you either really like looking at the sky or your always just really tired,"
he said jokingly as he sat beside her. He took off his shoes and also put his feet in the water, "Either way you really like being on you're back don't you" he winked at her. He thought it was hilarious that the couple times they've met so far she had been in the same position when he arrived. It was hilarity at it's best. The cool water splashed against his feet. Everything was just perfect right now and he was getting butterflies. Why did this girl make him feel this way so suddenly? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------[/div] .

It was the time of night where the sun was still out, but it was low in the sky. You could see the glimmer shine off it, but it was getting darker and darker as the seconds passed. When Steven had first heard about the bonfire he was thrilled, it sounded like a lot of fun. Steven had a thing about fire; it was big and well…hot. He had liked fire since he was a little kid when his uncle used to take him camping in the countryside of Whales. It used to be the highlight of Steven’s summer, but the pair hadn’t gone camping since Steven had started Hogwarts.
Steven had already been at the bonfire for about thirty minutes. So far it had been boring. Steven had a thing for drama. People teased him he was a drama king, but it was just something he found entertaining, as long as he wasn’t a part of it. Steven had sort of dressed up for the occasion more than he would admit; he had a pair of black jeans on, with a gray t-shirt and a cream colored cardigan. If someone told him he looked nice, he would most likely deny it and say he just found the ensemble in the bottom of his trunk, but truth be told he was trying.
Steven was sitting at the edge of the lake. His legs in a cris-cross position. He would have his feet in but it was cold, and Steven wasn’t a big person for cold. He was very content, sitting thinking to himself; he usually didn’t have time to think to himself, with Quidditch, Classes, and his job, but right now was the perfect time. Deep in thought Steven looked down towards the middle of the lake stars were starting to form in the sky, and the tiny white orbs where reflecting through the lake. To be perfectly honest the scene was breathtaking.
Steven’s moment was ruined by a voice, about twenty feet, away. He was far enough away that he would hear talking but not what was being said. It was hard to think when people were talking so Steven decided to walk over and talk to whoever was talking. On his way over Steven could hear the slap of his flip-flops on the crisp green grass. When he reached the voice, he realized it was two people, and he knew one of them.
Steven and Emmalee had sat next to each other on the train, on the way to Hogwarts for their first time. When they were sorted into different houses, there short lived friendship died. They still said hello when they saw each other in the halls, but that was it. She looked different now, she looked, well… hot. Steven had manners so he wasn’t going to flat out say this, so instead, “Wow, Emmalee! You look nice tonight.” Steven didn’t know the other guy, he recognized him as a fifth year, and knew he played Quidditch, but he knew he wasn’t a Gryffindor. Not wanting him to feel left out, “You look nice too,” Steven said in a friendly yet sarcastic tone, and ended it off with a wink.

A familiar voice rang through her ears and she turned her head to see Brandon. It wasn't too long ago that she had met this boy on the lawns of Hogwarts. That moment was a bit awkward for her at first, since he had seen her fall down a hill and then she was laughing at herself. That must've weirded him out at least a little bit. But, he didn't act like it, which helped her warm up to him. Not that she wouldn't have in the first place. He was very kind and easy to get along with. Not to mention, he was nice to talk to and very easy on the eyes. Looks should not matter, and they usually don't to her, but he had a good personality (from what she had seen) and he was good looking. That was a major bonus.
Emmalee sat up enough to lean on her elbows as she sent a smile in his direction. "Well, I'm not tired. And, I do like looking at the sky. So, I guess I'll have to choose that answer." She watched him as he placed his feet in the water as well. That always meant that the person was going to stay for a while. Honestly, she didn't mind. When it was said that no one could ruin the moment, it didn't mean that it couldn't be made better. The next comment was unexpected, but it made her laugh nonetheless. What Brandon had said was actually pretty funny. She knew that he was joking about what he said, so she didn't take it in a bad way. Some people might have though. "You know it." She said back to him, joking as well. She shook her head slightly as she sat up all the way. "You just like finding me at weird moments don't you?" She glared at him playfully, but couldn't hold the glare for very long due to the fact that she wasn't upset.
It wasn't long before she heard another voice. Wait. This one sounded oddly familiar as well. She turned her head in the newcomers direction and instantly a smile took place on her lips. "Oh my gosh. Steven!" She brought her feet out of the water and pushed herself up off the ground, now standing up. She didn't know if he would mind, but she was pretty excited to see him, so she gave him a quick hug before pulling away. Emmalee had met Steven on the train in their first year attending Hogwarts. Unfortunately, being sorted into different houses caused them to grow apart. Not that they knew each other very long, but she did like to think they became friends in that short amount of time. She never did forget him though. "Thank you. You look great yourself." She told him, looking him over. He looked different from the first time they met. "Wow. How are you? It's been a while." A rush of happiness just flowed right through her. Not only did she have a new friend with her, but she was now talking to an old friend as well. This night was going wonderful.

. falling in love as she's walking away and my heart won't tell my mind to tell my mouth what it should say . Brandon listened as Emmalee responded, "Well, I'm not tired. And, I do like looking at the sky. So, I guess I'll have to choose that answer." He caught a smile from her and he smiled back. He was happy that he had met this girl. She was really sweet and funny and it was nice that with the setting they were in right now. The bonfire crackling behind them and their feet in the water. Just the two of them. It was quite relaxing and very reassuring. She then said, "You just like finding me at weird moments don't you?" He laughed, "What can I say?" he started, "Either I have good timing or you don't have any normal moments" he laughed a bit back with her. He knew now that she wasn't going to take any joke he said personally or the wrong way so he felt free to say it. Though obviously he would still be careful with his wording. It did make him wonder though, did she ever have any non-weird moments? Seemed like she was always in them. He laughed at the thought.
What he didn't laugh at was what he saw approaching them. A teenage boy roughly the same age as the two of them. Wearing khaki shorts and walking like he was all that. He saw him smile at Emmalee but didn't make eye contact with him for too long. He didn't want to look like a creep even though he was really interested to see if he would walk by or come and join them. He really really hoped he would just walk by but his gut was telling him that that wasn't the case. Emmalee hadn't seen him yet and Brandon was ready to take advantage of that by triggering another topic to talk about, but he was too late. The boy approached them, “Wow, Emmalee! You look nice tonight.”
. Ummmm excuse me? What was this? He then turned to Brandon and said, “You look nice too.” Ummmmm EXCUSE ME? Who did this guy think he was? He didn't know Brandon at all and already he's giving these sarcastic remarks. "Aw thanks, wish I could say the same to you." He said with that same sarcastic smile that the boy gave to him. This guy probably didn't expect Brandon to come at him with something like that but being the mind speaker he was, he couldn't help it. He hated hot shots and his gut was thinking that that's exactly what this guy was. Brandon became more annoyed when Emmalee responded to his appearance with excitement, "Oh my gosh. Steven! Thank you. You look great yourself. Wow. How are you? It's been a while." Brandon immediately felt like the night was lost now. He was going to use this opportunity to spend some quality time with Emmalee but that idea was now shot and run over multiple times by an army of 18 wheelers. Thanks a lot Steven. He would try not to make this night awkward with this kid but he would definitely not hold back any thoughts he had. He didn't want Emmalee to see a bad side of him though so he would try and force them back. He tried to enter the conversation but decided to wait for Steven's answer to Emmalee's question first. He was very curious himself. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------[/div] .

You either loved Steven or you hated him. There was no in between. Steven had a loud personality that always shined brightly. A lot of people didn’t live Steven, they thought he was, an egomaniac, or to cocky for his own good. Steven didn’t care what others thought of him. Steven was the kind of guy who held his head high even if it was a bad, day or people were talking bad about him. Honestly Steven liked the way he was, and if someone didn’t he didn’t care because chances were he wasn’t going to like them much either.
Emmalee really did look different. He hadn’t really looked at her full on, for more than a few seconds since his first year. She had defiantly changed in those five years. Steven had changed too, when he was a first year, he was chubby, and awkward. When he started play Quidditch Gryffindor, he lost his baby fat, and started to fill out. His ego grew larger, and he was now a completely new transformed person.
Hugging was always awkward for Steven. Even if it was only a few seconds it always seemed to go on forever. Steven never knew what to do when he was being hugged, should he hug back of stand there like a lifeless log. When Emmalee let go, Steven took a discreet half step back. He didn’t like to stand close to people, it was one of his many quirks. “I’ve been good, it has been awhile, a few years, no?” Steven adjusted his feet, “and you how have you been?”
Steven was sensing bad vibes from the guy. Steven was open to meeting new people, and he was trying to play around with the guy, but he guessed that the boy didn’t want to play around. “Oh, you could, and you will hon.,” Steven said this time with a bigger wink and with a click noise that he made with his mouth. “Trust me.”

How could someone not be happy, when you were surrounded by friends? She thought that she would be alone for a while, but along came Brandon and not long after came Steven. It was unbelievable how good things were getting. Brandon was very fun to talk to, and it seemed like they hit it off easily when they first met, even though she was being quite the goober. And Steven, he was a first year friend, and even though she didn't get long to be around him, she honestly did miss him. Speaking of him, he really did look different. It took a bit to actually register in her mind how much he had changed. She could still picture the boy, and how he was in first year. It was a drastic change. He was... well, hot. For lack of better terms. Brandon was very good looking as well. So, not only was she with friends, but they were... so nice to look at.
Emmalee blinked a couple times, snapping out of her thoughts in time to hear what Steven had said in reply to her. "I'm glad to hear that you're doing well. And yes, it's been a few years or so." She smiled, pushing a bit of her hair behind her ear. She glanced over her shoulder at Brandon. For some reason, he didn't look too happy, which made her frown slightly before she looked back to Steven. "I've been good as well. Actually, I couldn't be better, I think. Haven't had anything to worry about." She shifted her body to the side so that she could look between the two boys.
She had spoke too soon. It was so sudden, but she felt it. There was a slight tension between the two. It was radiating from Brandon the most though. She wanted to keep her smile, but it was hard to when she was starting to worry whether the two would get along or not. She didn't understand why they wouldn't. They were both nice. Her eyes moved up to the sky once again, trying to tune out the sarcasm in their voices. She wasn't even going to say anything to the two of them. Emma was just going to let it play out from there, and if it got worse, then she would jump in. Hopefully they would start to get along soon enough so that she didn't have to do that at all.
