Why would she be standing on the edge of the Forbidden Forest when she knew that if caught it would result in detention and the reduction of House Points? There was just some appeal in standing by the edge looking it. It's how she lived most of her life. Always sitting on the edge and listening in to a group of people, only making comments when asked directly for her opinion. She had always been quiet and shy. However deep down there was this rebelious streak inside of her that longed to come out. It was early evening, so everyone else was in dinner but tonight she was not hungry. She was also still in her school unifrom since they werent allowed to take it off until after dinner. Currently she was a few feet away from the Forbidden Forest and was just looking in at the trees and darkness. It was interesting how quickly it became dark inside of the forest when the sun was still in the sky everywhere else. She figured that there was at least an hour until the sun set. So she took a few steps closer to the Forbidden Forest. Today she made sure to put on make up since her fellow Slytherin, Diana, made it a point to let her know that she needed to wear it. They had been talking yesterday and yesterday Cassandra forgot to put on make up since she was almost late for class. So this morning she made sure that she looked nice. She ran her fingers through her hair and sighed. Then she just sat down where she was and kept looking in. Of course she couldnt get in trouble for just sitting close by to the Forbidden Forest. As she sat she pulled her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. Lately she just felt blah since she had been trying to fit in and was going through her teenage years. It was going to be nice when she could finally relax at the end of the term. But until then she felt like a trouble make because she was so close to the Forbidden Forest. Maybe it was time she actually went in?

It was just something he did every once in awhile. He loved the forest and loved that he could go in there to be mostly alone. He was no longer in his uniform. He had taken it off as soon as he could. He wasn't a big fan of the uniform, no surprise there.
What was surprising was that when he got to the forbidden forest edge, he wasn't alone. Cassandra Murphy, a girl in his house, though a bit younger was already there and just sitting there. Probably debating whether or not to go in. Seriously? Had she never been in there before? Jacks had gone in his very first year. But then, he had always hung with the crowd that had done things they shouldn't. Going into the forbidden forest was one of them.
There was this thing of going into the forbidden forest and telling ghost stories. They did that about once a month or more. And Jacks was going to keep the tradition up now that he was in seventh year. He sauntered over to her and plopped himself right down beside her and gave her a slight smirk. Cassandra was actually one of those people Jacks had let himself care about. And he was protective of her. She just had this innocence about her that was missing in most of the Slytherin girls that he found slightly intriguing.
"Well, well, well, Cassandra Murphy. Don't tell me you're thinking about going into the forbidden forest?"he asked with a slight mocking grin on his face as if he could never believe that she'd ever go in there.
"You know, a young pretty thing such as yourself maybe should think twice about going in there. Haven't you heard all of the stories about the young girls that get snatched in there?"he asked. He was definitely teasing her now, though not exactly being very nice about it. People were probably used to him being that way by now. Especially in his house. Though surprisingly, he was much nicer to Cassandra then he was to most people.
"Well, if you wish to go in the forbidden forest, I can take you in there. It's worth it to go in at least once. And this way, you won't be alone. So you might be more likely to go in. What's life without a little risk?"he asked, that slight smirk returning to his features as he asked her that. But he figured that if she was going to go in there, he wanted to go in there with her. There were all these rumors about a dementer and he would never let anything happen to Cassandra. So though he teased and mocked her, he really did want to go in there with her to protect her and make sure nothing did happen to her. Of course he was usually too macho and tried to act too much the jerk to ever admit to such a thing like wanting to keep her safe. But he meant well. |

Since she was just sitting there and looking into the forest she did not notice anyone coming over. Actually she thought everyone was still inside and eating dinner. So it really surprised her when some just sat down next to her. In fact she jumped slight since it was so sudden. But then laughed at herself when she saw that it was Jack. "So what if I was... I was thinking we obviously have too many house points so I should take us down a few." She commented.
Jack was easy to talk to and pretty nice for a seventh year. For the other seventh years she felt invisible, but it was nice that someone spoke to her and did not have alternative motives like Diana did. "oh please... no one would watch to snatch me. I have nothing to offer." She replied and smiled. With jack she just felt relaxed and that she was not being judged by her fellow house mate. But she noticed the difference in him when he spoke to her and to other people. She wondered why he was just oddly nice to her. But she needed to stop thinking that everyone had alternative motives. Still she would not object if a seventhyear wanted to show her some attention, it might make Diana jeleous.
Then he offered to go in there with her and made the point that life needed some risk. She thought about it for a minute and realized that her life seemed a bit dull lately. "Alright. I havent gone in yet and I am tired of being like the only person in the whole world that hasnt." She said before quickly getting up. She brushed her robes off and waited for him. In a way she was a bit stubborn and thought that she could handle it herself but haveing never been in before she was scared of getting lost. Either way it was nice to have someone around to talk to plus Jack was nice. "So... why arent you in the Castle having dinner?"

"Well, I'm surprised we have any house points with me around,"he replied with a grin. Jackson had never cared about house points. He wasn't into school spirit like other people were. Hell, he was hardly into classes at all. He attended of course. Otherwise he would have found himself out of Hogwarts long ago, and he did care about the place in his own way. He just didn't care about the quidditch or the school spirit that seemed to come along with the place.
He quirked his eyebrow at her statement. "Nothing to offer? My dear Cassandra, you are exactly the type of girl they'd be pleased to snatch away. You have everything to offer,"he replied. And there came his flattery. Jackson could be very charming when he wanted to be. But when he gave Cassandra compliments, he actually meant them and was extremely sincere when he said them. And he didn't mean the compliments in a sexual way and didn't say them as a ruse to get into her pants. In fact, she was more like a younger sister to him then anything.
"But, nobody would dear snatch you while I'm with you,"he added as she agreed to go in there with him. He walked into the forest, and shrugged at her question. "Just wasn't hungry. Probably because I snuck down to the kitchens earlier at lunch and stuffed my face,"he replied with a grin.
"Why aren't you at dinner?"he asked, repeating her question with a slight quirk of his eyebrows yet again as he turned back to give her a look to see the reaction on her face once she told him. He wanted to make sure she was okay. And there came that caring side of Jackson again. A side seen by few. He didn't show it often. It might ruin his reputation, but it was definitely there. He was a much better guy then he liked people to believe. |

She laughed at his comment about the house points. She knew that they lost quite a few because of stupid things that he did but she tried to gain them back. Unlike him she had school spirit because it gave her something to focus on other than schoolwork. Until this year she had very few friends and now she was starting to branch out and meet people. "Some of us just work extra hard to keep us in competition with the other houses." She commented. But having something to focus on, like the house competition, gave her a love for the Slytherin House that she rarely hard. It was hard to be apart of the pureblood house when you were a halfblood.
"Oh please... you are just trying to flatter me. I have nothing... I am young and inexperience. the only thing I have to offer are the few things I am able to do with magic." She said. Of course she knew his reputation as a bad boy and bad boys get girls alot so she figured he probably knew the things to say to make a girl feel good. But he was nice and she liked that.
She walked with him and into the forest. It felt fun to be this little rebel with the house bad boy. Her gaze drifted around and she admired the pretty trees and stuff around her. "Well the house elves are very nice when you show up in the kitchen." She commented. At nights, when she wasnt asleep, she would go down to the kitchen to get a cup of coffee. At this point they knew her and would bring it right to her. She thanked them and would sit and let them talk to her. "I think they feel appreciated when we go to see them."
She looked around then turned back towards him when he asked her why she was not at dinner either. "honestly... I dont know. I just wasnt in the mood to sit at the able and hear all of the noise." She explained. Plus there was food for her if she went down to the house elves. While trying to fit in with the girls of her house she just felt like she was in an awkward phase. One day she would be that sexy Slytherin but right now she was just working on it.
