It was midnight, and she couldnt sleep.
Mostly because she was so surprised that she couldnt find anything better to do that night. She'd been in bed by ten, a rarity for the slytherin girl, who was used to sleeping much later - as late as two or three in the night. Sure it left her tired the next day (though thankfully there were no dark circles and she could easily hide the puffiness with good quality cosmetics) but at least she got in some of her favorite activities done at night - partying, dancing, drinking, sleeping with somebody random - the slytherin common room was rarely this boring at midnight, especially because most of them werent particularly bothered about the rules . anyway.
And yet today the common room was deathly quiet, as was her dorm. She got out of bed, found her wand, and said, "Lumos." The room lit up in a flash of brilliance. She did not particularly care about waking her dorm mates up - on the contrary, if they woke up she might even be able to do something interesting with them. But they all stayed in their beds, and the most she got was a stir out of the girl closest to her, so she sighed, put on a purple eye-catching skirt that she saw and liked in her bag, and decided to make her way down. Her black tank top seemed acceptable enough - she'd worn more revealing clothes for sure, and it wasnt like there was even anyone awake. A quick glance at a mirror (a pre-requisite before going out) and a quick swab of lip gloss ensured that she did not look completely awful, though her tousled hair and clothes did give the impression that she'd walked right out of bed. Under ordinary circumstances she might have bothered a little more, but it was midnight, she was in the mood to break some rules and cause some havoc, and she could not spend another house getting ready. She grabbed a bottle of firewhisky from her cupboard as walked out - she didnt care if it was solitary, she needed a drink.
She walked down into her common room, put down the bottle on a tiny table, and then walked straight to the closest window, her wand light still on. She sighed again. She knew it was a school night and all, but why couldnt people just stay awake? A few classes could be missed. She looked down at the grounds, at the moon shining over the black lake, and she felt a familiar feeling of being caged inside the castle. Maybe she could go out - go into the forbidden forest or the whomping willow and pull the kind of stunt that would grab some eyes. She wondered what she would do, however, which actually made her wish Astrid was around. Still, she would survive.
The forbidden forest - a dementor attack - it sounded terrific. Maybe she could get a crowd as an after-effect of surviving such a thing. The thought of this being irresponsible did not really strike her. And besides, she'd had enough experience making a patronus to not be afraid of dementors. She was not going to be afraid again in her life.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;]Trouble Is My Middle Name and The Game The Words: 644 The Outfit: Photo Above The Notes Here yah go Love xD Jacks and his buddies had been done playing poker for an hour or so. The guys had been wimps and had gone to bed. Probably because they'd been up until four in the morning the night before. It was after all, party central here in the Slytherin common room. Probably because Jacks initiated so many of them. What was life without a little fun? Of course, the fun and games were all Jacks concentrated on in this place. It was amazing he'd been able to stumble through his classes and get halfway decent grades. Of course, he did have a lot of free time this year since he hadn't been able to advance in some of the classes because of his results. But that didn't really matter to him very much.
He was just coming back up to the common room after a midnight run for cookies and milk in the kitchen. He went to the kitchen quite a bit, and he was actually nice to the house elves every time he did so. Probably the only creatures happy to see him time after time. Okay, so that wasn't true. Natalie was another person who liked seeing him, as well as Cassandra.
As he opened the door he smirked as he saw Diana Black at the window gazing out. Diana was a girl that he liked to give a hard time to. Probably because she was so much like himself. They were both full of themselves, and she could definitely keep up with him. She was like a female version of himself, but different in some ways too. She was hot, and she knew it. Though Jackson pretended that he didn't find her nearly as attractive as he did.
Anybody that knew Jackson knew that he did whatever he darn well pleased. Everyone in Slytherin house knew that. And not just everyone in Slytherin house, but pretty much everyone in the castle knew how he was. So it was no surprise that he sauntered over to the table and take a giant swig of her firewhiskey. He set the bottle back down with a grin.
"What are you doing up Black? Don't you need your beauty sleep in order to even look somewhat decent in the morning?"he asked.
Diana always looked decent, and he knew that. But he would never tell her such a thing. She already had an over-inflated ego as it was. Much like he himself did. They were both self-absorbed people. Maybe that's why they were able to butt heads a lot because they had so many similarities. She would be much prettier if she had an attitude adjustment. Which was saying something about how he felt about himself as well.
People who knew both Diana and Jacks often laughed at their little exchanges, claiming that the reason why the butted heads so much was because there was all this sexual heat between the two of them. Jacks and Diana had slept together before in the past. But then, Jacks had slept with many of the girls in Slytherin house. Hell, he'd slept with many girls at the school period. So he knew it wasn't really sexual heat. Sure, she was an attractive girl. He just knew that it had more to do with the similarities. Besides, he was more interested in trying to woo another certain girl. And there would be no way Jacks and Diana would work anyway. They were far too similar and into themselves for that.
But it was amusing what people thought. There were many speculations about whom he was currently trying to woo or whatever. The talk came because of how he was. So they could speculate all they wanted when it came to him and Diana. Actually he couldn't really picture Diana with anyone because she was in love with herself. He could really say the same about himself though. |

Diana was generally quite an alert person. She'd grown up in an environment where it was important to know every thing that everyone around was thinking and doing, and to not let anyone sneak up on you. Not let anyone beat you up, or steal from you, or hurt you. Not let anyone so close to you that you couldnt get away easily. And because she'd never felt totally safe in her grandfather's house either, she had stayed alert there too. But now that he was dead, and she was in Hogwarts, the safest place she knew, the closest to a home she'd ever had, she'd lost that, somehow. Oh, she still had enough enemies, so it was probably not the best of all ideas, but she no longer felt like she had to be on a constant state of attention. Which was why she missed Jackson till he reached close enough to her to be impossible to ignore further, because he took a swig from the bottle she'd just layed down on the table, at which point she turned.
His words were acidic, but she had pretty much come to expect that from him. She had no idea what she'd done to actually offend him, except that unlike most of the women who he dated she would not let him bully her, or subdue her, or take subordinate place to his own exaggerated sense of self-importance. She had always known that she was as beautiful as him, and she'd always known she had slept with more people than he had (or she might have, but then, she'd started pretty late), and she knew she was as popular as he was. Why should she feel inferior to him? She was tired of being inferior to anyone else. Everything she'd ever been had been to avoid that, and she was not changing now.
"I'm always beautiful, Jackson darling, and you know that," she said with a cocky smile. "Why are you up so late?" She paused, pouted. "Okay, I'll change that question - where the hell is everyone else?" She reached away from the window and took a swig of firewhisky herself. This evening might even turn out to be fun, if Jackson wasnt as much of a prat as he usually was. It might even turn out to be fun if he was. As much as Diana would not admit it, she actually liked sparring with Jackson, who could match her insult for insult - and there was something else that she would admit even less, which was that she actually even found him attractive. She had to have - after all, she had hooked up with him, and she knew exactly how hot he could actually be.
Not that she would actually ever go out with him again. Even though she was single right now, after that...unfortunate debacle with Liam last night (she had to learn how to lie better!) and he was still as hot as he'd always been, she wouldnt have gone out with him if he'd paid her. Alright, perhaps especially not if he'd paid her. She was not the kind of person who took second place easily - after all, attention was the most important thing she had wanted from her relationship. She looked at Jackson for a moment, and then remembered a rumor that had been going around since the night of the bonfire about him and some ravenclaw, and grinned slightly. It was the kind of lie she'd have delighted in starting, except she hadnt been, but she didnt actually believe it. Still, it would probably infuriate him.
"So Jackson," she said, sitting down on a couch and crossing her legs. She leaned ahead. "I hear you're doing a goody-good Ravenclaw." She hadnt actually heard that - just that he'd been seen with one, but knowing him, well, she couldnt be too wrong. She grinned and looked away for a moment, and then returned to him. "Falling standards, much? After all, you had me, if only for a very little while." Here she was being a bit of a hypocrite, after all, she was well-known to go out with any guy who would have her, but who cared?
