[atrb=width,240] It was Saturday Evening and Kadie was sitting in the Three Broomsticks at the bar, sipping at a butterbeer. She had just enjoyed a perfect day with her Aunt Jasmine. They had gone shopping, and had received manicures and pedicures. Kadie was actually wearing the outfit that her Aunt had bought for her. The outfit along with the freshly done nails and hair made her feel pretty. She didn't dress to impress anyone besides herself, mind you. But it was a good feeling to get all prettied up to go out. She'd never liked modeling in her mother's company or being paraded around. But her love of clothes and of looking nice had come from her mother. And she was glad that she had at least inherited that. Though she'd rather not parade her style around for people to watch. She'd rather just enjoy looking nice for herself. It was nice to have her Aunt live in London. She had recently moved here and it was nice to have her come visit. Though she wasn't a witch and had to leave sooner then Kadie would have liked because she didn't have the luxary of apparating and disapparating. But at least she had come to see her. Actually Jasmine had been supporting Kadie throughout her whole life. Jasmine had been the one to push for Kadie being able to go to Hogwarts when she'd received her letter. And Kadie wasn't sure how she'd ever repay her Aunt for that. She could never repay it actually. Jasmine and Kadie were more like sisters then aunt and niece because Jasmine was eccentric and had never really grown up. But, Kadie had that grown-up mom figure in her nanny Jessie, though Kadie was far too old for a nanny. Now Jessie stayed on more as a housekeeper then a nanny. Jessie, Jasmine, and James were the three people that meant more to Kadie then anything in this world. She almost giggled aloud as she realized that all of their names started with a J. They were more her family then her own parents were. But she was learning to accept that. Well, at least she was trying. Even though she was always angry with her parents for not being better parents to her, she did love them. And she did want to make them proud. She'd just learned that it was mostly impossible to make them proud. They were so caught up in their own lives and themselves that nothing Kadie did mattered. She had known that pretty much her entire life. But that didn't mean that it still didn't hurt after all of these years. She had James, Jasmine and Jessie though. And she was so grateful that she did. She sipped at her butterbeer at the bar. She figured that it was Saturday night and she'd hang out here for awhile since she didn't have to wake up early for any classes in the morning. She could sleep in and do her homework tomorrow, and hang out with James. She loved the weekends. She sipped at her butterbeer and turned on her bar stool as she felt some eyes on her. A sick feeling went through her as she realized that it was a seventh year Slytherin male who was leering at her. Ever since coming back for school this year, the guys in that house had been treating her like she was easy. Probably because she had slept with Marcus, and the sleeze had probably told his friends all the details. And it made her sick to think about what he might have told them. She was no slut. Marcus was the one and only guy she'd ever been with. And she regretted it now. She should have said no. She should have stayed far away from him in the first place. Though Kadie felt sick and hated all of the Slytherin males for the way they acted around her, she acted as if it never got to her. So, today was no different. She held her head up high as he stared at her and stared him down. Though as she did so, he started coming closer to her. Before he reached her, she shook her head. "If I were you, I wouldn't come any closer. Not unless you only want one testicle,"she said as she smiled sweetly at him, her eyes hard and dangerous. She watched as he frowned at her and briefly fingered his wand in his pocket. She fingered hers as well. But he probably figured it wasn't worth it as he turned and plunged out the door. She relaxed and then turned back to her drink. She noted as she did so that the bartender was watching her wearily as if she were about to cause any trouble. But after a moment or two, he relaxed, seeming to know that now that the guy was gone she would go back to sitting quietly here in the corner on her bar stool and not cause any trouble. So, he refilled her glass and went about serving the other people in the place. Guys were quickly learning that she wasn't one to mess with. She wasn't the same girl she'd been while seeing Marcus. After recovering from the miscarriage she had begun karate, self-defense classes, and she'd been working on her defensive spells. She was never going to let a guy have power over her emotionally or physically. And she'd never give another guy the power to break her heart. She'd definitely learned the hard way and had no desire to go back to that vulnerable girl she'd been after it was over with Marcus. So, she may have come back to school this year as this tough, sometimes bitchy girl. But there was a reason for that. And it had quickly become evident to people that she definitely had a wall up and only a select few were able to get behind that wall. Which was fine with Kadie. Having her guard up definitely protected her from the Marcuses of the world. | [atrb=width,140] words , 1006 words tagged , Open! notes , Just in a posting frenzy mood this morning xD. |
