Kenny was feeling like he was going from being a simple normal shy person that seemed like he was invisible to the whole world to becoming someone that was nice to talk along with as he noticed that Isabel was no longer blushing but her lips were forming a smile as he smiled back at her. He removed his glasses a bit to wipe the lens with his shirt to make sure the lens were clean as he stare back at Isabel wondering what she was going to say next. It seemed as if what he just said to her apparently made her feel better as he never imagined that he would really succeed in having a simple nice conversation with another student.
He then noticed that Isabel was moving her gaze from him and looking at the lake wondering what was wrong as he felt like she needed to be alone again. However, Isabel then stopped a bit wondering what she should do next and then looked at him to ask him something. Kenny was surprised when she asked him if he was any good at swimming which made him feel a bit good. “Well, I do enjoy a good swim now and then, I would like to join you if you like” he asked as he got up and head back to tree area were he kept his glasses on but proceeded to remove his shirt and placed it over a branch like a towel. He didn’t have swimming shorts though he was lucky enough to have jean shorts on at least which seemed like a good alternate as he returned to Isabel and tested the water with his feet. As he placed his foot in the water he noticed that it seemed really nice not too cold and not too warm which was really impressive to say the least.
He then carefully stepped into the water feeling a bit surprised by this as he was so eager to see what Isabel would like to do in the water. Maybe the two might go swimming around the lake for a bit or might even see more of the constellations as he waited for her to jump in the water. “This water is really nice, I Never imagined it to be so nice at nighttime.” he said with a nice smile. He treaded around the water a bit while waiting for her to go and step in.

As soon as Kenny said he enjoyed a swim, Bel's small smile turned into a bright one. Well this was bound to be interesting – she never shared her secret swims with anyone, but she had long since decided that he wouldn't go blabbing about it to everyone. He stood and went to hang his shirt on the branch. Being a little impatient to get back into the water, Bel was already up and waded waist deep into the water. She didn't go much farther for the moment.
When he joined her in the luke-warm water she point to where she was standing, ”Careful, three feet from here toward the center there is a steep drop off that goes down twenty feet or so. Only jump in if you're really good at swimming. “ And right after she said that she turned and dived in, swimming a bit down then coming back up, waves and misty spray joining her. ”I love the water.” She admitted with a smile, moving back to the waist-deep lake bed.
”The water is so nice this time of night because water gains and loses heat slowly. So as the sun beats down and the air temperature rises throughout the day, the water slowly gains the same heat. However, once the sun goes down, water will lose it's heat much slower than other things will. Sometimes the water can be even warmer than the air because of this property.” Bel said, tucking back hair that was all over her face from her dive. ”Of course you won't learn such thinks like that from Hogwarts – but read a muggle science book or two and you can learn a lot of things about the world that magic just can't teach you.” Bel paused, and wondered what he would think of her reading muggle teaching books. Kenny was a Hufflepuff and not a Slytherin so she supposed he wouldn't think her horrible for being interested in muggle science but the possibility was still there. |

As he watched Isabel join him in the water, Kenny noticed that her smile that started small became brighter as Kenny was happy that he really made this Ravenclaw student feel quite better about herself. He then noticed that she did not really go that much farther in the water for now as he wonder why she just was staying right close by the rocks for now which really seemed to baffle him for a bit. He already was told by her that the water was the best place to see more of the interesting constellations and yet she stayed by where he was at as if she wanted to inform him of something.
Just then Isabel explained to him about the center of the lake which apparently had a very steep drop that is like a bottomless pit only it was 20 feet or even worse as Kenny felt a bit scared. He was then told that its only a best place to jump in if he was really good at swimming. Kenny did like swimming and he can manage to float ok. “Thanks for letting me know, never really thought the lake could be that deep I figure it was some sort of an outdoor pool.” he added as he watched the waves go around the two. “I really love the water as well, this really feels nice” he said as he dived a bit underwater and then he got up catching his breath a bit feeling so excited as his hair was wet.
Kenny then begin to listen on as Isabel explained to him about how the water was always nice around night time because of whenever the sun goes down the water would lose heat slowly which really seemed all impressive and very interesting and new to him. Suddenly she told him that she learned it not from Hogwarts but from some muggle science books which really took him by surprise. Kenny paused a bit as he was now a bit close to her as he gazed at her eyes and noticed her hair being a bit wet from going underwater as he took a slow breath and begin to speak to her. “That is really amazing to know, I’m really surprise to learn all these facts and such. I’ve never thought I’d enjoy knowing all this” he said still gazing at how lovely she looked in the water which she like wondering what to do next.

By this point Bel was far more comfortable than she thought she would be, and being able to feel such was like a freedom from the stigma she had endured since she was thirteen. Not only was she talking to someone, but that someone was a man who was swimming with her in the lack at what she figured had to be at least ten or eleven o'clock at night. She had to suppress a laugh at the odd irony of the who situation considering the fact the just a few hours ago she was thinking about how life would likely never be this way for her.
As Kenny spoke about how he liked learning all this, Bel smiled again. Finally someone who was not annoyed by learning the things she knew about the world. What had started as just any normal night was turning into something wonderful for the Ravenclaw. The sense of freedom alone was a wonderful thing, the other stuff were all perks that she was glad to have. Of course such thoughts would not be verbalized because there was no need for them to be – to verbalize them would mean admitting her past to Kenny, which was something she couldn't do.
”If you're feeling brave, follow me.” Bel said as she laid on her back and let the water cradle her body once more. Using her arms and feet she slowly propelled her body farther out into the lake until she was at least thirty feet from the shore. It was then that the sky really opened up and the stars shone brighter than before and more could be seen. The trees kept the light of the school at bay and the only light was from the stars and the sliver of crescent moon above. Bel didn't honestly know if Kenny was following her or not, but she could only assume he was and she wondered what he was thinking about how the sky just seemed to open up this far out into the lake. |

It was really becoming an interesting night with each thing that was all so new to Kenny as he had met someone to speak to in just one night. As if that wasn’t enough the student happen to be such a lovely looking girl who felt that she was a horrible person because of her well known knowledge which apparently made her felt alienated to the other students. He had a funny feeling that he was falling for her but yet he did not want to blurt It out just like that being that he had just met the girl and it felt too soon.
He had no reason to go and feel scared about speaking to people at all now that he felt like he accomplished something that seemed impossible for him to even do since coming to Hogwarts as he went underwater once again for the fun of it to get his hair looking at least nice. Suddenly he noticed that she was about to travel somewhere in the water and it looked like she was going to the center where she warned him about. Kenny realized that there may be something fun in store if he decided to go and follow her to who knows what she wanted to do. He then noticed Isabel stopped to tell him to follow her if he was brave enough as he stopped a bit wondering if he really wanted to do this as it was nearing the curfew and he was having so much fun with this Ravenclaw student.
Kenny then took a few deep breaths and proceeded to swim to where she was swimming to and as he was doing this he was looking at the sky and was really surprised as he realized that Isabel was right about the stars being nicer around the center area of the lake. While he was looking up during his swimming, he noticed a bright shooting star making its way in the sky as Kenny did realized what a shooting star was to mean as he closed his eyes a bit hoping that maybe a wonderful wish would come true. He then manage to reach Isabel as he staying afloat while smiling at her. “I’m brave enough, the sky really is nice at the lake.” he said with a smile as he looked at the moon which seemed to be very brightly out in a silver crescent.

”I come out here almost every night that permits me too because this view of the sky is just so perfect that it's hard to find anywhere else except perhaps in the middle of no where.” Bel said in a soft voice as she lay there in the water. ”And if you float long enough with a blank mind and the water is warm enough then you're skin won't be able to distinguish the temperature difference and you feel like you are a part of the water – it's really rather remarkable.”
A shooting star zoomed across the atmosphere and Bel closed her eyes, making a wish. Curfew had come and gone, and she began to wonder if he wanted to head back. Truth be told she often stayed the whole night out here but she wasn't about to make him aware of the fact or put him at risk by asking him to stay out with here. ”We are far from the center of the lake, but I figured with curfew already past that it would take too much time to reach the center. Plus I left my wand back on shore, and I really hate swimming so far from it.” It was her way of testing to see what he was wanting to do. If he wanted to go in she would walk with him to the castle and return later, if he wanted to stay then he could stay.
Her eyes closed and she let her mind go blank for the short moment before he would reply to her, but it was enough to start feeling like her body was fading into the water again. She loved that feeling. Perhaps if Kenny decided to talk with her more on other nights and swim with her again then he too would be able to experience the feeling. Her eyes opened again and she gazed at Kenny. |

Kenny stopped a bit while staying afloat as he began to listen to what Isabel was talking about as she told him about why she liked to swim far off where the stars and the moon look really beautiful out on a night had really seemed like no other night. Just then Isabel then explained to Kenny that if he were to stay floated long enough when the water is really warm and that the mind was completely blank then he would feel like he would be part of the water as he was really surprised by this little tidbit that she had just told him. “I never realized that at all. I’ll remember to cherish that knowledge as I will with all the stuff that you told me about” he said as he noticed Isabel closing her eyes as well from the shooting star.
It apparently was getting late and curfew had begin to pass and already Kenny was at a crossroad as he wanted to spend more time with Isabel and yet he did not want either of them to get into trouble as he felt a bit worried. He was told by Isabel that she left her wand by the trees as he did the same so that he wouldn’t lose the wand or get it messed up from the waters at all. He really didn’t know what to do as Isabel felt like she didn’t want to swim all the way back to get it as he tried to think about what to do next.
He then thought about it for a bit as he watched her have more fun being one with the water as did it for a moment as it seemed like fun. He then returned to look at Isabel who once again was gazing at him with those attractive blue eyes of hers which seemed to astonished Kenny. “Isabel, this has been one of the best nights of my life and honestly I wish it never had to end at all.” as he spoke to her his hand once again found itself softly on her shoulder as he did not know what to do at all. “You showed me wonderful things I never expect to see at the nightly sky and I’m glad to learn from such a beautiful girl like you” he said in a soft tone as he noticed her eyes being as bright as the moon itself.

His hand was softly placed on her shoulder as he talked about how wonderful the night had been and how he wished it to never end. Did he really feel so? Bel hadn't any idea because she had no idea how to guess at what people felt. A blush rose on her cheeks again, and she didn't know exactly why him saying that would cause her to blush. Her mind began to race, a little nervous but not like before, she didn't have her nervous habits but she also couldn't get her mind to calm down.
”I'm glad that this night has been so wonderful for you, Kenny. Truth be told I have enjoyed it myself – I haven't talked like this or shared things like this with another person in a long time.” The truth was out before she could stop it. Although she had hinted at her inability to communicate, Kenny likely hadn't known the fully extent of just how lonely and deprived her social life was. It was really rather sad how someone like her could have been so shunned by the world. She was easy on the eyes and very kind at heart.
He still hadn't hinted about if he wanted to go back or not. At this point she didn't want to have to go back, but the reality was that most students did not have the lack of fear she had for being out after curfew. She aimed to make her grades perfect – she didn't care about her trouble record though she often did stay out of trouble just to make life easier. As long as she didn't get expelled, she could handle a few slaps on the wrist and a detention or two. However, other students wouldn't take the same risks, which Bel understood. Facing the fact that Kenny would almost certainly want to go back inside made her smile vanish from her lips. |

What Kenny seemed to do as he was speaking to Isabel seemed unusual for him did he really felt like he was in love with her. After what he said to Isabel about how this night should never end he once again noticed the blush on her cheeks as he was really getting a bit worried about it as he was used to speaking to her so much and now he really wanted to express the right feelings for her. Truth be told he too felt like he was blushing once again by what he said to her as if he needed to say it right and make this night end on a high note.
Suddenly Kenny listened to what the Ravenclaw beauty had just told him which really took him by surprise. Kenny realized that she never felt like this or even shared things with someone else for quite a long time. He knew that she was lonely but this was really sad to understand as Kenny continue his best to make her smile. “Well I’m glad you enjoyed this night and to be honest, it would be great to spend a few more minutes here for the time being just enough to make you happy if that’s what you want and then we shall head back to be safe. But I‘m sure that maybe we can have more nights like this if its ok with you?” he said as his cheeks were getting redder by the minute and yet he had no way to stop himself was blushing, it was really getting serious and yet he wanted to make this moment the best moment of his life and not blow it at all.
“Isabel, do you…..” he wanted to ask but paused a bit as he felt nervous in asking her as he took a few more breaths before continuing to speak “Do you…..Believe in true romance at all?” he finally asked as he felt so eager to say it but felt a bit strange in asking this nice girl those words at all as he felt like something was about to happen. He waited for Isabel to answer as he can now feel that his cheeks were burning yet he doesn’t feel the pain going about as the blushing was really going too much in both the two young students since they had met each other this night and somehow it felt like it was love at first sight.

He actually wanted to stay a bit longer? It was brilliant news. She had never guessed that Kenny would have taken such a likeness to her odd ways that he would actually want to stay longer back curfew than what he already had. A smile that had faded came back to its previous shine and beauty. While not much time in his company was left, she took what she could get.
Then he said he wanted more nights like this to happen. Somehow Bel was able to keep her blush from keeping deeper, but she was still caught entirely off guard by the Hufflepuff's request to spend nights like this together again. She wasn't sure the context in which we was asking or the motivators behind the request but she was sure those would surface with time,
Moving from a floating position to that of upright, using her legs and arms to keep her head well above the water, Bel faced Kenny when he asked her about true romance. ”I have no reason to believe that true romance exists. For so-called love has only shown me the greatest misery imaginable in my life. Never have I had a positive event with love and romance and I highly doubt I ever shall. The one and only time I dared to love nearly cost me everything I had – even my life. That being said, even if true romance existed somewhere in this god forsaken world I would not trust it nor would I wish to be a part of it because it will only end with my heart and soul being hurt and I will not bare such a pain again.” Her voice was firm, angry and it was clear that her past had been horrible traumatic and had left many deep scars on her heart Unaware of any feelings Kenny had for her outside of friendship, Bel felt no remorse for saying what she felt was true. Would she shun love forever? Most likely, but then again, anything is possibly is one were to try hard enough. |

Kenny felt that he was really impressing Isabel by requesting to stay with her a bit longer, sure he was use to following the curfew rule but this night had been such a real wonder for him that he felt like he wanted so much to make this memory a real good one. He noticed that her smile which was once faded had came back just like that as it seemed that he was really doing the best he can in keeping her company for as long as they can last on this very special night.
“Well I figure that after you showed me the wonders of the constellations tonight I figure that probably we can look up at the stars again on many nice days and probably have fun any way we can think of.” Kenny said as he really saw the she was blushing so deep that she looked like a beet. He hoped that what he said before really made her feel so much better to have someone to speak to whenever she needed someone to be with at all times as he had a real good feeling that tonight was going to end just as he hoped that it will end like.
Suddenly when she heard him asked if she believed in true romance it suddenly changed just like that from nowhere. Isabel explained that she had no reason to believe true love exists at all as she went on talking about how it gave her misery. She told him that she never had a positive effect on love and the only time she did love nearly cost her everything as Kenny felt like he was hit with a curveball of defeat as he was sad by this. “Why…..I never knew that….at all” he said feeling a bit down as if she was mad at him and after having such a good time with her. “I’m….sorry, I just thought, see I never had it easy to find true love at all. I wished to find the special someone and yet whenever the right moment comes I just feel like I get left out in the cold. I never realize it was that tough” he said as he felt a tear rolling down his eye after hearing her angry tone lashing at him.

Bel let out a long sigh upon realizing that she had hurt the young man's feelings – which was the extreme opposite of what she had intended to do tonight. She bit her lip a little and hung her head in shame a moment before she looked at him again and set her hand gently upon his shoulder, ”It is not you I am mad at, Kenny. Please, I beg of you not to feel as if my anger was somehow directed at you for I had not meant to make it seem so. I have a great deal of problems in my past and particularly with love. Whenever I talk about it I get angry but only at the man who hurt me when I was younger.” She paused, noticing the tear rolling down and moved a soft finger to wipe it away. ”Y-You...you cannot imagin the horrors I have suffered at the hands of love, which makes me so bitter towards it. My dearest wish is that you understand that in no way am I angry at you.”
A moment passed as she tried to form the words in her mind and deliver them to her mouth. She had never spoken much about her past nor even tried so hard to make a person understand the true source of her angry and hatred. But somehow she didn't want to see Kenny in pain and thus was trying to make it clear to him. ”Kenny, you have made just an ordinary night into something extraordinary. Never did I think I would be able to interact with other people like this again. I hid so much of myself from the world because I was shunned, but you didn't mind my faults. I owe you a great deal and deeply thank you for what you have done for me. Knowing all this, can you now see that I would have absolutely no reason to be angry with you?” her question was left hanging for an answer. Would her understand? And if he did, would he press more about her past? She wasn't prepared to admit to anyone what had happened to her. It was something that she just couldn't so – she was too ashamed.
Her hand slipped from his shoulder and back into the water. The night was not ending as well as it had began and the Ravenclaw was mentally preparing herself for another good-bye and another person lost because of her own stupidity. |

As Kenny felt like he was about to go for now hurt and lonely he felt a hand on his shoulder as he saw Isabel who looked at him and was no longer feeling mad anymore than she was when he asked her if she ever believed in true romance which resulted in her saying that love gave her nothing but hurt and misery. It seemed that Isabel felt really bad in lashing out at him a young boy who only tonight was grateful in keeping her company for this night. He then listened as Isabel explained that she was mad at the that hurt her when she was young apparently as she gently wiped Kenny’s tear from his face as he was starting to feel better again as she told him she would never meant to hurt him at all.
“I’m sorry to hear what happen with this person that broke your heart, To be fair I would never break hearts or cause someone like you pain in any way.” he softly said hoping it would be able to comfort her at all. Suddenly he then listen on as Isabel was becoming really grateful for making this night which almost seemed like a typical average lonesome night into something special to her. She was thankful for making her at least feel better which begin to make Kenny blush redder as he never imagined that he would make someone’s night feel special as she even thanked him for what he has done by being grateful to her this whole night. After Isabel said all this Kenny really felt speechless for a bit as he felt like time was slowing down between them as this night might not end yet as if something wishful should at least happen.
Kenny watched as Isabel’s hand left his shoulder and was about to go back to the water for now as Kenny looked on at Isabel continuing to gaze right at her lovely eyes. It seemed Isabel felt like he wanted to leave and say good bye to make her feel bad but he did not want to do that at all as he took a deep breath and spoke to her in a soft calm voice. “Isabel, that was very nice of you to say. I’m glad that I made your night special, it’s been a great time to hang out with someone for a change. I want you to know that whatever happen before in the past don’t let it get to you. You are a special girl, you’re very sweet and nice and really good at knowledge.” as he said his hands were somehow making his way to her hands as if he is gently holding them trying to comfort her hoping she would no longer feel upset anymore.

His hands were sort of holding her own as he told her not to let her past get to her – but her past was something no one could ever forget if it happened to them. She appreciated his efforts to make everything seem better but she knew that healing was a long time off for her. She watched him for a moment then the bell tower tolled midnight. Had she really been out here three hours? It seemed unreal.
Despite the fact she usually stayed out all night, she needed to get Kenny back to the castle and it probably wouldn't hurt if she actually stayed in the castle for one night since she did have an early morning class to get too. With a soft sigh she looked in the direction of Hogwarts castle ”It's very late, we need to get back before someone figures out we aren't in our dorms.” She didn't really want to stay out here tonight. Instead she needed to be in the warmth of her dorm to think and maybe do some art work before sleeping.
She waited a moment then turned for shore and began to swim. It didn't take her too long but she was careful to make sure Kenny could keep up with her. Once on shore she grabbed her towel and dried herself as best as possible then slipped her sundress on over her bathing suit. The air had cooled since she was last out of the water and a slight shiver ran over her body. She thought about using her wand for warmth but thought twice since making too many magical gestures might attract unwanted attention at this time of night.
Bel slipped her shoes on and took her wand from her dress pocket and once more brought light to the area around Kenny and her. Light may be easy for unpleasant creatures to see, but at least it wouldn't attract as much attention as other spells and charms did. She turned to him, hoping he was dressed so they could return to the castle. |

Kenny seemed to be doing ok in making Isabel feel quite better after the misunderstanding from earlier on when he asked her about if she believe in true romance which made him felt a bit down even though Isabel apologized to him about acting angry about it. He then looked on as Isabel was gazing at him for a moment which seemed almost like eternity for the two in the water as the night seemed like it was special for the two. Suddenly Kenny heard a noise from the distance as he listened on and realized that it was the bell of all things.
Kenny was shocked that the school bell was ringing as it tolled of all things midnight. Was he really out there this long to meet this girl who taught him about the constellations at night for almost three hours? Kenny was scared for a bit as he did not know what to do now as he felt like he and Isabel were going to be in serious trouble all for a simple night out. Apparently Isabel was also worried as well as she told him that they should get back to the school right away before there caught as he watch her swim as he followed along with her to get back to the rocks where they sat on. He finally made it almost out of breath as he got out and noticed Isabel was already getting dressed as he got his glasses out of his shoes and got his shirt back on and collected his wand though his jean shorts were a bit cold.
After he was dressed and placed his glasses on his face Kenny followed Isabel who had the light on again to keep night creatures away obviously as he carefully walked with her back to the castle. “Isabel, I’m really sorry bout this, I didn’t realized that it would be this late. But I enjoyed getting a chance to meet you. I really meant what I said when I said you were sweet and nice and full of knowledge.” he said in a quiet tone that she can hear. He then carefully followed Isabel as he thankfully did not trip again as they are about near the castle.
