Most of her knew that the friendship they were sharing was faked and just put on so that she looked better. Everyone needed that friend that made them look good. But Cassadra had plans of her own. Eventually they would need her help for something and Cassandra just was not going to be there and they would relaize that she was an asset to thier friendship. She also knew more than they thought and she could find information pretty easily. She hoped that they never stabbed her in the back at least. Even if they were not real friend she at least wanted the common decency to not stab her in the back.
"yeah visiting would be fun." She said and smiled. Her dad was good and she did not mean to sound like she was unlucky, she just wished that she had both parents there. But one day the house would be better. "yeah sorry to bring up school again." She commented since asking about the salem witch trails resulted in school talk. it was just an interesting subject in wizard history. "one day I would love to travel over to Salem and see what its really like. " She added. Travel was something that she wished she had money for. Her grandmother might have been a rich pureblood but Cassandra's father made enought to surive, so travel was not something that could be done as often as Cassandra would have liked.
She laughed and nodded. "oh yes he does flirt with everyone. I probably should not have even spoken to him because hes a gryffindor. It was so stupid of me." She said. Cassandra knew that he just flirted with everyone but something about being flirted with made her feel special. If a guy flirted with everyone then why should one girl feel special over it. That feeling of special disappeared from her. He would probably end up with Kadie anyways and forget all about Cassandra. Good thing the houses divied them.
Then she wondered about something. "Diana... how does one get away with having sex while at Hogwarts?" She asked. Of course she was not going to be doing it but she was curious how someone could. There could be a possibility one day assuming that she found someone who was interested in doing that with her. "Well good luck finding the perfect man." She added.

She thought that Cassandra was hopelessly innocent. Of course, she was probably underestimating the quiet girl, but then, Diana had a lot of faith in her faculties of judgement and did not think that she was going to make such a big mistake. And of course, while the girl had been a surprise in some ways Diana still expected that she would be one of those quiet types who did what you asked them to whenever you asked them to. Not particularly fun, to be sure, but then, it was a good idea to have a dull person around once in a while who was good at following instructions. And Cassandra seemed like the perfect addition to the group sort of thing she and Astrid had to serve just that purpose. Diana would never have imagined her plans of not being there for them when they needed her most. It might have made her respect Cassandra more.
As it was, however, she felt no respect and was mostly condescending even as she pretended to be enthusiastic and nodded her head in the context of the planned meeting over the holidays. Maybe she could manage that anyway. She did tend to get bored all alone at home over the holidays, and perhaps she wouldn't need to feel obligated to call Cassandra home. "Its okay," she said with a smile as Cassandra talked about bringing school back up. "I can understand your curiosity. It was an important time for the magical world." She didn't, of course, but over time she'd become very good at faking that sort of thing.
The travelling comment made her smile slightly wider, simply because the thought that Cassandra might visit (and then ask around about her, and then discover her secret) was raising alarm bells in her head. "You like exploring, and travelling? I do too. It seems so very exciting." She shrugged, and then said the next remark casually and extremely coolly, as if it did not matter at all what Cassandra did, though in fact it mattered rather too much. "Well, you should try Beauxbatons if you really want to visit. France and all - its supposed to be the best of all the magical schools to visit." She looked for a moment at a far spot in the distance that had, from far away, looked like a cute boy, but soon lost interest. "Salem's got nothing so great in terms of architecture. The crowd there is perhaps the only advantage."
Her next question took Diana somewhat by surprise, though at least the girl was distracted from her stupid plan of going to Salem. She grinned, winked and then said, "Planning something, are you, darling?" She grinned wider. "Well, if you're talking about protection, there are magical ways - I'll lend you a book. If you're talking about the physical not getting caught, well, there's a room in the seventh floor that shows up only once in a while that barely anyone knows about - but if its late and dark then you can use any empty classroom. Just remember to put on a silencing charm and a charm that makes sure no light goes outside. And lock the door. Most prefects and professors don't look beyond a locked door if they can't see or hear anything suspicious inside the room." She grinned. "Trust me, honey, I've made A LOT of noise. It never does come out once you do the Silencio charm."

Since she did not like drama in her life unless it was absolutely necessary she would avoid it at all costs. Of course she would be there friend and try to help them out when they needed but to demand everything from her would be over the top. Of course there were some thing she did not mind doing, like mending clothes, since Astrid gave her some. Making adult beverages would be alright as well. Cassandra knew that she could be a good friend in thier little group as long as some curtesty was given back to her. After all she did not want much from them, just to not be stabbed in the back.
Then the more she thought about it she was taking alot from them. She was gaining thier status by being in the group and considered a sexy Slytherin girl. However that just ment that they had to associate with her and she did promise Diana home brewed firewhiskey and vodka. It seemed to be a decent trade in a way. "yeah in a way its exciting to see other places. I can only hope for a rich husband that lets me travel." She commented. Traveling could be exspensive if you wanted to stay in nice hotels and got to nice resturants. Then Diana mentioned visiting schools. "France is on my list of places to visit but since I am already at Hogwarts I dont really want to visit the other schools unless I end up teaching at one of them." She explained. That comment probably calmed Diana down since it wasnt like she wanted to go find people from the other schools and ask about her.
Cassandra kind of laughed at the wink. "No planning anything. Just curious." She tried to explain, but that question was not one you just asked randomly without some sort of intentions. Secretly she figured it would happen while she was at Hogwarts and why not be prepared now. It was good that Diana mentioned protection and the magical ways since Cassandra only knew about the muggle ways. But then she talked about silencing charms and no light charms. "Wow... it just seems like so much work and like a mood killer if you have set all of that up." She commented. There was nothing spontaneous about what Diana was describing but she understood that sacrafices had to be made while at Hogwarts.

"Well, if you want a rich husband who will let you travel...have you met Leif yet? Astrid's twin brother?" She shrugged. "I don't know about letting you travel, but he's certainly rich - rich enough to not really require a rich wife." That was probably an important consideration for someone like Cassandra. Of course, she did not really like Leif all that much, he got on her nerves at times. It was all very well for him to be protective of Astrid, but there was absolutely no need for him to extend that to her too. In fact, it made her slightly uncomfortable, as if something was off. He wouldn't keep looking out for her unless there was something in it for him - she certainly knew he wasn't all that altruistic - in fact, no one in the world did stuff without any reason. Of course, it might just be that he was attracted to her, but really, she got mixed signals about that - in fact, she was pretty sure he was gay. Or at least bisexual. And she didn't mean it in a mean way, either.
Cassandra's remark showed that she wasn't all that interested in magical schools, which did go a long way in calming Diana down. "Ah, so you'll go into teaching, huh? Well, I guess it'll be a long time before you're qualified to be a teacher. And wouldn't you prefer to teach at Hogwarts?" If she managed to keep her secret that long, then there was no way Cassandra would go to Salem and even expect to find someone there who knew Diana. And if she knew Cassandra, she'd probably much prefer to stay over in Hogwarts, which eliminated the problem entirely. If Diana had been on better terms with the headmaster then she would have put in a good word. As it went, her ostentatiousness tended to get her into more trouble than most.
Cassandra's next statement made her think. She'd never thought of the simple precautions as a mood kill, mostly because she was way too used to them. "Well, I guess you have to do what you have to do." She grinned. "And sometimes the thrill is half the reward. You wouldn't get much more than a spoiled reputation and perhaps a detention if you were actually caught anyway - and I guess my reputation is already spoiled, and detentions tend not to matter." Especially if you were doing a hot guy and the story spread throughout the school the next day. "Though I don't quite believe you'd ask such a question without any plans, so spill the beans, sweety," she said after a moment.

Diana mentioned Astrid's brother as a potiential husband and Cassandra just shook her head. "its it like against the unwritten girls code that you never date someones brother?" She asked. Thats what she always assumed since it was wierd to date a friends brother. Plus she knew that Lief would never give her the time of day since they were just on small talk terms. So like if they saw each other they would say hi in the common room or maybe a hi how are you. Other than that she never spoke to him and he never spoke to her.
She nodded and then shook her head. "I would be an awful teacher." She explained. It was a profession she thought about going into because her mom had been a teacher but she figured out that it was not for her. There was not a nice towards screaming children bone in her body and when it came to older kids she hated when they were obnicious or even worse stupid. "Its just an option for a career if I need it." She added. It was like her last resort career choice. She would rather work at the Mistry of Magic in charge of copying paperwork instead of being a teacher. Secretly she had a feeling that she would do pretty good on her OWLS and then NEWTS and find a better job than copier of paperwork or a teacher. At least she hoped.
"yeah if you want to do that then you have to make sarcrafices." She commented. If she wanted to have a private moment then she understood the importance of it but it just made her feel like she would be planning that moment that she wanted to be so special. Hopefully the first time was not at school since she really wanted to remember that moment and focus on it. Not focus on the spells that one needed to make sure no one heard or saw them. "I honestly have no plans to do it but I was just curious. I hear about kids doing it all the time and I was just wondering how since I've never seen anything." She explained.

"Unwritten girls code? I don't think Astrid or me know much about that, dear," she said, sounding like she didn't give a damn and actually not giving much of a damn. "In case you hadn't noticed, we don't hang out that much with girls." She bit her lower lip, revealing somewhat pointed canines. "Though I guess its not the best idea to date a girl's brother and break his heart if she's your friend, it might mess up the friendship. Which is why I don't go for Leif." That was a subtler lie, made to sound like Leif was falling all over her, which he certainly wasn't. He gave her mixed signals, but nothing concrete enough for her to imply that it was SHE who was rejecting HIM. And besides, he was certainly very hot. "I bet you're the kind who believes in commitment and long-term relationships so you're probably not likely to hurt him too much, therefore not hurting your relationship with Astrid."
She herself thought commitment was something to be avoided like death itself. No relationship she'd ever seen had lasted forever - and if it had then it sort of sucked for everyone involved. Nobody would ever be able to pull her into the web of being with one person for a long time. Especially since that much contact would probably mean they'd get to know most of her secrets. She distracted herself from the thought of that with the talk of what Cassandra wanted to do with her life. "Ugh yes, I would hate to tolerate students like...well, me, if I was a teacher." She was certainly not the model student, as her whole incident with the ravenclaw and gryffindor in a highly eventful transfiguration class recently had proved.
"Well, the details may be hard but its worth it with the right person," she said, sounding exactly the way an older sister might (or at least, the way Diana thought an older sister might sound, which was only mildly accurate). Cassandra's ardent refusal made her slightly suspicious, but she laughed it off. "Oh I believe you darling," she lied with a grin. Right until I find something that proves otherwise, she completed in her mind, but did not reveal to Cassandra. She was too quiet, and Diana thought it was time to do a background check on the girl. Which, for Diana, was a rumor search - perhaps not quite as accurate, but sometimes you could know about a person just from the kind of rumors there were about them.

She knew that the whole unwritten girl code sounded stupid to begin with but her older sister used to talk about it and say things like 'You cant date another girls ex boyfriend its against the girl's code'. But her sister did say things like that when she was twelve and Cassandra was ten. It was really stupid of her and she felt like Diana was probably judging her at that point. "I would be open to flings if guys were interested." She commented. "Also I dont think Astrid's brother even knows who I am so why would I even want to date him." She added. Really they needed to get away from the whole dating Leif thing since neither of them were going to do it.
What is really came down to was she doubted most people in her house even noticed her or knew anything about her. If Diana went looking for rumors about her then nothing would turn up, at least that is what she assumed. Actually it was more of what she hoped since she did not want people talking about her without her knowing. But what was the worst thing that there could be a rumor about? Probably her blood status or that hufflepuff she had been seeing. She made a mental note to see if he told anyone about them of if he was keeping it a secret as well. Cassandra hoped that he was.
"yeah I am sure the right person helps." She commented and then noticed how Diana laughed and smirked after claiming to have believed her. In a way it made her feel uneasy, mainly because of how Diana smirked afterwards. "You dont need to believe me but it is the truth." She commented on the quieter side. It annoyed her that Diana did not believe her since Cassandra was not going to lie to her about something so stupid. The lie about her blood status was for protection, other than that Cassandra tried not to lie. The lie about her blood status was hopefully not a rumor floating around the castle but she knew that there was a note of it in her personal file. As far as she knew Hogwarts kept a record of everyone's blood status.

Did the mention of the girl code make her uncomfortable? Yes, just a little bit. Because while she did not exactly pine for the company of girls (she couldn't get along with most of them anyway) she did get the feeling that she was doing something wrong by having absolutely no girl-friends - Astrid barely counted, she sometimes doubled up as an enemy. Perhaps it was a good thing she was befriending Cassandra. Perhaps THAT was why Astrid was doing the same thing. She couldn't be sure. But still, because the whole thing made her feel uncomfortable and inadequate, she was quick to steer the conversation back to her own ground - boys. Or one boy in particular.
"Well, I'm sure Leif can be made to know you. Maybe at the next party. God knows the guy could use a good girlfriend - even a fling - just to loosen up." And stop acting like such a creep to her, she thought. She was a little surprised when Cassandra mentioned she'd have a fling. It seemed like she and Astrid (and Diana considered her influence to be the most, of course, despite the fact that she'd barely had one conversation with Cassandra yet - though it was a long one) were starting to affect darling little goody-good Cassandra. Interesting, very interesting. It might be good to have an accomplice, or rather a minion.
And then Cassandra was getting all touchy about her teasing. She sighed. "Alright," she said. "I believe you." It sounded like she wanted Cassandra to stop getting so sentimental, which she did. She hated stupid difficult situations. "Good general knowledge to know, anyway, for the future. It might help you sometime when you actually decide to...you know." It was not like Diana to be so censored in her use of language (in fact, among people who did not care about her reputation, she was known for having quite a bad mouth) but she was toning it down for Cassandra, who she thought might like a slightly-milder ("watered down whisky" was how Diana thought of it) and still fun version of Diana much more than the louder, more obnoxious one. And Di was quite good at tailoring herself to meet the person she was talking to half way, especially when she was in the mood to manipulate them.

Cassandra also craved the whole girl friend idea. The whole having a group of girls to run to for anything and she knew that she could be a good friend if given the chance. See no one ever wanted to give Cassandra a chance for some reason. Probably because she spent so much time hiding in the corner and reading. During her first year she found it comforting to just be apart of the larger group and not develop any true friends. Hopefully that was changing this year and she would ahve Astrid and Diana to at least confide somethings in.
Cassandra did not know Leif all that well since there was no need for them to interact and she sort of felt uncomfortable with how Diana was trying to suggest that she hook up with him. "Well he doesnt know me so whatever... " She commented. To her he seemed a little annoyed with everyone and like he did not want to socialize with them. Then there was this connection between him and Astrid but she just wrote that off as them being twins. Twins were supposed to be close and in each others life. Still she rarely saw Leif alone but that was probably because she never really saw him. She did see Astrid often though.
It sucked to be known at the goody goody but she was young and very naive because she did not have those people to help her learn things. "Well thank you for the knowledge." She said and smiled. She looked down at her feet and then allowed her gaze to travel around the court yard before she looked back at Diana. Then she smiled since smiles looked friendly and she was trying to friend this year. Hopefully she was making a good impression.

Diana was making the mistake of thinking that Cassandra was exactly like she had been when she'd been younger and plainer and dressed badly and sat around in corners, but that was not true. It was clear that while Cassandra, too, was willing to do almost anything to fit in, she had interests beyond that - like the reading, even if it was of questionable muggle books - and she was a lot nicer than Diana had ever been. And she didn't lie. Or at least, Diana didn't think she was lying any more than a normal person did - and Diana was convinced that that was not a small amount either. She just wasn't quite as good at it as Diana was. But of course, no one in Hogwarts knew Diana like that, and she would damn well make sure that they never did.
The constant refusal of the guys was making her somewhat suspicious. Especially because she was assuming Cassandra was like her. "Not Leif either? He's good looking you know. But I'm sure we'll find someone, eventually, who's good enough for you," she said in a casual tone, but inside she was wondering if maybe Cassandra already had someone. But who'd want to date someone that plain and blah? Or perhaps it was something else entirely, like Cassandra preferring girls or something. She looked the girl up and down and decided that no, that wasn't too likely either. She took another square of candy and started to eat it, though she realized she'd been overboard on the candy recently. It reminded her of her talk with Astrid, and she grinned. "So, Cassandra, tell me what you think of Astrid then." It was abrupt, but somehow she had naturally connected it with Leif and she expected Cassandra to follow anyway.
She actually thanked Diana for 'the knowledge'. That made Diana grin. "Aww honey, anytime. There's only a few things I really know much about, so I'm more than happy to tell you about those if you ever need any help with them. Like boys. Or clothes, or sex. You know..." She shrugged. "I'm certainly not all that intelligent about things like history and all that. In fact, for those, I'd most likely have to take the help of someone smart like you." It was a compliment, and she hoped the girl could see that. She did not usually debase herself for anyone.
