It was a nice day for September. The sky was clear but it was still cool outside. Just cold enought for a sweater but not freezing to the point where you needed a jacket. At this point it was mid afternoon on a Saturday so most students were relaxing in thier common rooms or some had gone to Hogsmeade. Cassandra decided to stay back and get some reading done since the Castle would be quiet. Since the number of good weather days were winding down she decided to head outside. The courtyard so pretty much empty so she was able to find a bench. From her bench she could see the entire court yard and a view of the moutains off to the side of the castle. With her was her back pack and in her back pack she had some reading books. She knew that she probably should do some reading for class but she really wanted to do some reading for pleasure. She opened her bag and pulled out a muggle book that she kept with her. Normally it was tucked away deep in her trunk where no one could find it. But for some reason she was compelled to take it out with her. She knew the risk if she started reading it now and someone saw her. So she put it back in her back pack. Next she pulled out a book that was like the popular book of the time for teenage wizards. She opened it up and started to read it. She tucked her hair behind her ear. Her outfit was just a pair of simple jeans and her house sweatshirt. She wanted to fit in with her fellow classmates so badly. She wanted to be a pure blood even worse. It made her want to scream out loud but she wasnt the type to scream even if deep down inside she needed to. In her opinion the book was interesting but it did not keep her interest. She sighed and then put the book away. So she decided to read the potions book. If she wasnt a pureblood then she felt like she had to prove that she was great at magic. In classes she tried so hard and was quite sucessful. But deep down she felt it wasnt enough since there was no way to get rid of her half blood and replace it with pureblood.

Diana was doing something that she absolutely adored doing - attracting glances. There was something magnetic about the tall, well-endowed girl anyway, but a large part of it was her own effort. After all, she had looked the same even in Durmstrang (though she had to admit, she had grown a bit since then) but no one had ever noticed her then as they noticed her right now. She noticed more than one person staring out right as she walked in long, confident strides down the hall in a black tank top and a very, very short denim mini-skirt that showed off her long legs along with mile high black heels. After something that revealing, she'd gone with only a little jewelery - a little red heart pendant around her neck, a red hairband in her dirty golden hair, a red belt, red lips - and of course, a layer of other make-up to make her look fabulous. Perhaps not less for anyone else, but this was Diana, after all.
Other people were sitting around covered in sweaters, which made her shrug. She didnt feel cold and wouldn't have covered up her perfect arms anyway. For her, the cold was invigorating - as was simply being outside. Diana simply hated to be cooped up into classrooms and the castle of Hogwarts (big and mysterious as it was) - she was too used to being outside. Being stuck inside made her feel like she was in a cage, like she was in her parents old one bedroom house with her 5 siblings, still changing raindrops red and black and blue and violet and green as they fell down. That was not a time that she enjoyed going back to, so instead she compensated by being never staying inside for more than a few hours anyway.
Suddenly, she spotted a figure in the courtyard, reading, and grinned. She might have almost missed Cassandra (who she knew as Astrid's little pet) who looked terribly commonplace and rather like an annoying goody-good Ravenclaw. It was such a pity, really. She had the most amazing green eyes. Diana was struck by a sudden desire to do some good (or perhaps it was just a desire to influence the girl and get some respect from her - which she loved, after all, for so many years no one had ever respected her, and most people still didnt - fell for her, yes, but they did not respect her) and help the poor little girl out. So she made her way over to her, bringing with her the attention of a large part of the (largely male) crowd in the courtyards.
"Cassandra," she said, loudly, cheerfully. She guessed the girl would recognize her - who in Slytherin didnt know outrageous, shameless, crazy Diana? Or at least she might know her because of Astrid. Either way, she behaved like the girl was her closest friend. "Still no fashion sense, I see," she said, sitting down next to her and giving her a careful assesment, followed by a shake of the head. Her next words were probably hurtful, but spoken without malice. "Really, darling, couldn't you have done away with the sweater? And put on something that made you look less like your mother?"

Of course Cassandra knew who Diana was. Astrid was good friend with Diana when they werent fighting about boys or something. But she knew it was only a matter of time before Astrid introduced her to Diana, but she was surprised to see Diana walking towards her. It was odd for her to see all of the boys turning thier heads and looking at the girl as she walked. Secretly she wanted that sort of attention and was trying to learn from Astrid.
Yes she knew that she looked like a Ravenclaw. Her father was a Ravenclaw and she picked up most of her habbits from him since her mother hadnt been around. Once her mother actually left, she got to meet her grandmother who was a Slytherin when she was at Hogwarts. Meeting her grandmother was a wierd experience. Apparently Cassandra looked just like her grandmother and had so many similarities between them. It was wierd but she was taking a likeing to her grandmother. Once in a while her grandmother sent her nice things, which was nice because her father could not afford to send her things.
Then she looked up from her book as Diana sat down with her. "Nice to see you Diana." She said and gave the girl a friendly smile. Then she listened to the girl critize her clothing. Astrid had given her some clothing and she wore it out with her that night. One time she wore it out while hanging out with Astrid in the common room. "I guess I could have... its just kind of cold." She explained.
She looked over Diana and then back down at her Slytherin House sweatshirt and jeans. The fanciest thing she owned was her mother's pearl earrings and she wore them alot. Mostly in her school unifrom to make herself feel pretty while wearing those uniforms. Although she wasnt too happy with the comment she made about looking like her mother. Cassandra looked nothing like her mother and she thought that she looked younge and cute. Maybe she needed to stop looking cute and more like a Slytherin.

"Cold?" she said with a grin. "Drink some firewhisky, make a move, dont freeze around reading," she said with a grin. She did not care and did not bother to ask if she was disturbing. She had to admit that her own cold resistance was more natural and because she'd been raised in a place where fur lined coats that hid any shape your body might have ever had (yuk!) were part of the school uniform. But these were certainly things that Diana loved doing - she liked an occasional drink of butterbeer or firewhisky or even something stronger if she had the time and good company, or perhaps a date. It helped her shed any inhibitions she had left, which was always a good thing, and she could handle enough to not blurt out things which she wasnt supposed to. And she would never sit around outside reading when it was just a beautiful day outside - clear skies, cool weather.
"Its such a perfect day for quidditch," she murmured. She had loved quidditch since as long as she could remember, and it was a good thing too - otherwise she would have been way out of shape by now. She eyed Cassandra with her big, blue eyes from beneath mascara-coated eyelashes. "Do you play quidditch, Cassandra?" She could not remember seeing the girl in a team before - but then, Diana was too interested in her own self to actually notice anyone else, and she did not recall ever taking any interest in Cassandra at all. She was, after all, a pretty unobtrusive person, especially for the loud, obnoxious and distinctly odd bunch of people called slytherins. She wondered why Astrid was taking so much interest in her. Probably because she was the only girl (besides Di, of course) who would speak to Astrid, she thought, a little meanly.
Suddenly struck by a sweet craving, she turned away from Cassandra and rummaged into her bag for a packet of sweets that she had gotten delivered from Honeydukes and which had arrived this morning at breakfast. She'd resisted for long enough, Diana did not like her desires to be curbed. She pulled it out (it was only a little squashed). It was one of the packets from four packets that were meant to be a month's supply (she allowed herself to eat sweets, but only in moderation - good metabolism and quidditch went only so far, after all). The packet was about as big as her hand. She pulled out a sugar quill (she could begin, at least with sugarfree) and then offered the packet (which was filled with candy - mostly very sweet or very sour stuff, no chocolate, the best quality stuff available) to Cassandra. "Go on, have one," she said. "They're yummmmmm." With that said somewhat loudly (and stretched to many syllables), and the rather provocative way she insisted on sucking on the sugar quill, she had attracted a little more attention to herself.
Perfect.

"move where? Do you really expect me to just stand up and dance in the middle of the court yard?" She asked. At this point Cassandra was trying to figure out what Diana was trying to do. Was she trying to friend her or just talk to her since Astrid spoke to her? Then she wondered why Astrid even spoke to her. Girls like them always had a purpose but Cassie would be friends with them as long as she did not end up in the middle of their drama.
she nodded when Diana commented about the weather being perfect for Quidditch. "yeah and I saw some guys heading down there with broom sticks. I think they were going to play some practice rounds." She said. She didnt know the boys though so they were not from the Slytherin house. "I dont play. Do you?" She asked. It would surprise her if Diana actually played since she seemed to be the kind of girl who would be on the side line cheering on her fling of the week. Yes Cassandra did think some bitchy thoughts but never said them. If only Diana and Astrid could get Cassandra to be more open then they would probably get to see this side.
Then she watched Diana pull out the candy. It had been a while since she had candy and there was no need for it since there were so many nice deserts at the end of dinner every night. They were always nice and pretty, but she always noticed that most of the dessert was left at the Slytherin table. Most of the nights she watched the sexy and thin girls of Slytherin leave when desert was presented to them. Once in a while she would participate in the dessert but often she just wanted a cup of coffee at the end of the meal. Then candy was offered to her. It would be rude to turn it away since she was trying to be nice to Diana. "Thank you very much." She said and then took a small piece of something. She watched the way that Diana tasted the candy. "I am pretty sure all of the men are thinking the same thing." She commented after Diana said the extra long yummmm.

She watched as Cassandra picked a small candy. "Well, that will be sour," she said with a smile - followed by another suck of her quill. She loved sour candy as much as she loved sweet ones, and honeydukes had some amazing flavors of sour gummy bears. Perhaps she should eat one of the others next. She infinitely preferred all this to the school dessert - simply because she didnt want to look like the pig who had dessert alone. None of her friends seemed to want to it - probably to maintain their stick-thin figures that Diana, who was too curvy and too self-indulgent to ever look like a stick, sometimes envied very, very much. However, Cassandra's comments about the boys pleased her very, very much, and she took a quick glance around, winked at some poor lucky boy, and then favored Cassandra with a brilliant radiant smile.
She took the quill out from her mouth, in order to continue the earlier conversation with Cassandra. "Ah well, for warming up - I was thinking more like walking around, but dancing sounds fun." She liked to dance simply because she was graceful and sexy - it was not as much fun to actually move as it was to watch people watching you...as everyone was watching her right now. She turned back to Cassandra, and glanced down at the book in her hand. "What are you reading, anyway? Potions huh?" Diana had dropped potions, which she had never enjoyed much anyway. She now only took a bunch of erratic things that she enjoyed for one reason or the other - tranfiguration because she was good at it, care of magical creatures because the Professor was hot - you got the points. She knew the new potions professor was good-looking too (and young!) but not enough to make her take something as dull as potions.
"Wait a second...did you see some boys go down to the quidditch field? Really? Were they cute?" Diana appeared like a typical airhead at this point, which she probably was. "Oh forget it, probably not now, I'm feeling too lazy. They weren't in slytherin, were they?" Cute and slytherin and quidditch players - now that was a hard combination to resist. "And I do play quidditch darling. I'm one of our chasers." It was exhilarating, quidditch, not to mention that it brought her a great deal of popularity, especially in her fourth year when she'd joined the school. "You aren't interested in quidditch at all, I take it?" If she was, she'd probably know about the hottest girl on her own quidditch team, would she not? Still, Cassandra did seem the type to cheer from the sidelines. She seemed like a regular slytherin fan - as demonstrated by the excessive wear of slytherin sweatshirts. She adjusted the red hairband in her messy blonde hair, almost in protest.

"Well the sour is very nice." She said after she tasted the candy. Typically she did not go for sour candy but this one wasnt too bad. It was still sour but the other flavors numbed it just a bit so it wasnt painful. Then she saw the way that Diana looked at the boys. Thier responce was amazing and she wished that boys paid attention to her like that. If she watched Diana well enough them maybe she would eventually get those kinds of looks from the boys.
"So walking around the castle?" She asked. Cassandra knew she could not dance to save her life. Maybe shake her hips a bit when standing at a table with friends and only if there was loud music playing. But those were very rare situations so she never knew the next time she would be dancing. Then she was asked what she had been reading. "Um yeah potions...I was just looking over what we did in class today." She explained before putting the book back into her back pack. She agreed with Diana that the new potions teacher was younger and pretty decent looking. Of course if Diana asked her opinion of the potions professor then Cassandra would say that he was a good teacher just pretty new at teaching.
"The boys were alright. Not Slytherins though." She said.It was kind of funny to her that Diana instantly perked up to hear about the boys. Of course she kept this thought to herself as well. There seemed like there was lack of cute boys in Slytherin recently, which she didnt like. It might have helped her blood status if she married a pureblood. Then her kids would be almost pure. Then her kids would have kids and if they married purebloods then the muggle in her blood would be washed out. "Oh sorry... I guess you just look different when your in the quidditch uniform." She said and smiled. "I will look for you at the next game. When is it?"

"The sweet doesn't taste as sweet without the sour," she said with a grin, it was an odd philosophy that she'd made up on the spot but she thought it was right. She picked up one of the sour candies at this point as she'd finished her sugar quill, and puckered up her mouth at the sourness. You needed some plain janes like Cassandra to really appreciate beauties like Diana - what fun would it be if everyone was that beautiful? Still, she reflected that the slytherin with her was quite beautiful too, she just liked to stay in the shadows. As she smiled at the guy however she noticed Cassandra looking at her from the edge of her eye, and turned back and appraised her carefully. "Look at him carefully, honey, give him a dazzling smile, and wink - show off those beautiful green eyes. You'll have them swooning for you in a minute." And she gave another demonstration of the same and hoping Cassandra would follow.
"Well, I much prefer being outdoors," she replied. "But that's up to you." Being indoors made her feel caged up and she couldnt bear that. That's why she was always outside, or if possible - flying. Because she loved to feel free, and what could be freer than being on a broom in the sky? "Ah potions," she said with a sigh. "I used to love potions but I couldnt get a good enough grade to get in for NEWTS." This was a tiny, useless lie but Diana felt good saying it. "The new professor is cute though." It was quite apparent from this statement that no one, not even professors, were above being in Diana's list - especially if they were young and she couldnt have them - or if they could give her good marks.
She made a face. It was not that she preferred slytherins - actually, it was that she preferred slytherins, though she'd gone out with boys of all houses and was currently crushing on an adorable gryffindor called Anko. It was just...slytherins were slytherins. "I dye my hair for quidditch too," she said brightly. "Or at least highlight it. There's barely anything else you can do that's noticeable during the game. I'm thinking of hot pink highlights for the next game. How do you think it will look?" She removed her red hairband to reveal ruffled up-just out of bed-dirty blonde hair - a look that had taken ages to achieve in the morning, and help up one think strand for inspection. "The next game? I'm not sure actually. Someone will tell me between now and then." Diana was not known for being organized - or for believing too much in practice. It was a relief she was still good enough to make the team.

Diana had a point. In life you had to have balance between everything. Good and evil had to be in balance, although you would like the good to be in control. Then life would be boring because conflict kept humans in thier survival mode. She wondered if in the world there was a balance of muggles and people that were magical. Then wouldnt half bloods fuck up that balance? But in the end sour and sweet was just a simple example of the balance in life, and the candy was very tastey.
Then she felt embarassed that Diana noticed her watching her give the guys the eyes. Now she was giving her advice on how to do it. But Cassandra figured there was no harm so she did give it a shot. She gave a very soft and friendly smile. It was just a simple smile and she watched the responce from the guys. It wasnt anything exciting sos he looked back at Diana.
"outside is probably better. The castle just feels so stuffy right now." She explained. Maybe she spent too much time in the library where it was extra warm and there was the feeling of tall book shelves and books. It could feel like the walls were closing in at some points. Then sitting in the common room could feel depressing too. It was always so dark in the dungeon, but she did like it. it was great to have the dark and relaxed feeling in the common room. But today it just felt like too much.
She wondered what it would be like to actually date a Slytherin, but dating in general would be so exciting for the fifteen year old. After all she was young and really wanted to date soon. "Well its hard to be noticable in the game when everyone is flying around and in unifroms that match everyone else on the team." She commented and remembered the last game that she went to. It had been a fun game and luckily their house won that game. Then she was asked about pink highlights. "Well you have nice blonde hair and you are on the fair side so it will probably look pretty cute." She explained.

She watched and laughed as Cassandra's attempt led to no sufficient result. "Try that again with a little more mascara on," she advised her. "And with different clothes. And a lot more attitude." Cassandra's smile had been all well and good, but it wasnt the type to attract guys like this. Or perhaps she needed a different kind of guy. Diana ran through her list of guys she knew (or rather her list of ex-s) wondering if she knew anyone suitable for Cassandra to like. She found a name or two, and then decided to make sure they never got close to Cassandra. She paused a moment to blow a kiss at another guy who'd been looking at her for quite a while - most others had had a limited attention span and she appreciated people whose attention she could hold and then turned back to Cassandra. "And maybe you should be trying without me sitting around and distracting people."
She found it easy enough to distract people - like the guy she'd blown a kiss at, and the short, slender gryffindor girl who was with him. The girl, Diana presumed she was girlfriend but she might even have been a sister or a friend (no girl wanted Diana near any of the guys in their life, but the guys seemed to want her well enough) was giving her a look that might have killed if it hadnt been on such a not-designed-for-murder kind of face. "I know that girl," she said casually to Cassandra. She did, actually, she was pretty sure her name was Lily, or something bland like that. "You've heard what she did right? She chased Nathan - you know nathan, 7th year slytherin, right? She chased him for three years and he never ever talked to her." That story was a little bit different - Lily or whatever her name was had not been the one doing the chasing. She didnt care though. "And she's a muggleborn! Can you imagine? As if he would even look at her." Now this was being hypocritical as well as false - Nathan had slept with her once or twice a few years back, but Cassandra didnt need to know that. Diana loved this sort of gossip, especially it was only half true.
"And all your make-up gets smudged and jewelery comes in the way," she said with a shrug and a pout. It was pretty clear that Diana used bold colors in make-up and chunky jewelery to make a fashion statement more often than clothes - with clothes her philosophy was the less the better, though it was the opposite for everything else. She grinned at the comment about the hair though. "Pink it is...unless we're against gryffindor and anyone thinks I'm displaying their colors - you know, like red against gold. Maybe I'll go for lime green then." That was tad bit different, and also too house-oriented, for Diana, so she would greatly prefer the match to not be against gryffindor.

She felt a little embarassed when Diana corrected her. "yeah I did kind of skip the make up this morning." She said. Last night was the first night in a while that she went to bed and slept the whole night. Actually she woke up right before her first class so she did not have time to think about her outfit and her make up. It was enough time to get dressed, brush her hair and teeth, and leave. The good thing was that she made it to class on time. Then she heard Diana's comment about trying when she wasnt around. She knew the girls in her house and knew this ment that she wanted some sort of attention. "Yeah I guess if I want to be noticed that I cant be next to one of the prettiest girls in Slytherin."
It was both a compliment and Cassandra seeking a compliment that she knew would probably not come. It would have been great if Diana told her that she did not look that bad. But she figured it would not come so whatever she was over it. Cassandra looked over at the girl that Diana was looking at and then the boy. But then Diana mentioned who the girl was and that she had been chasing a 7th year Slytherin. "Yeah I used to hear Nathan talking about her." She commented. Actually she knew more than Diana thought. The advantages of being quiet and sitting in the common room was that you heard alot from the people talking. Then she heard the word muggle born. "Well thats just awful... why would a pureblood sleep with a muggle born."
She said it casually and like she was also a pure blood who looked down at muggle borns. But secretly she did despise her father for sleeping with a muggle and having children with her. Everything would just be easier for people if muggle married muggles and if purebloods stayed with purebloods. "What do you mean about make up getting smuged and jewerly in the way? Like after you have sex?" She asked. She realized it was probably a dumb question. What else would smudge make up and have jewerly issues? Quidditch did that but with the direction of the conversation she doubted that they were talking about quidditch. "Yeah pink is too close to red so I would suggest lime green next time you play Gryffindor."

She was not bad at reading people. If she was, she would probably not have survived this long. She'd learned it way back - when to come home so that father would not notice you, when to avoid your parents because they were in a bad mood, which one of your grandfather's wives wouldnt be plotting to have you thrown off or written off of his will, which ones would tell you his secrets, which of her lies would be expected by whom and who would be most likely to be affected by it. Part of this was just finding out as much as possible about the concerned person, but the other part was just intuition - and as she smiled at Cassandra's compliment she kind of knew that she was expecting one in return. And while Diana thought she looked awful, at least in that sweatshirt and with no make-up on, she lied. She always did lie. "I think you're pretty too," she added casually, eating another stick of candy. "Probably would help if you did not skip the make-up, but you'd do. You just need a guy who's looking for hot and sexy and mysterious."
Cassandra didnt really, she needed someone who was more likely to be quiet and sweet like her, but then Diana had promised to give her advice, not to give her correct advice all the time - what was she, her assistant? Her beautician? Besides, sometimes it was fun to set people up for a heartbreak - especially the sweet, innocent types. Like Cassandra. "Even someone like Nathan," she said. "He's quite cute." He had a mole on his back, but Diana refrained from giving Cassandra that particular piece of information. "And at least then he'd have a proper pureblood slytherin to go out with." She grinned. Cassandra was so terribly pureblood that it was almost unbelievable. Diana had never even seen her with a muggle book. "You're a pureblood, I guess. Like me. I havent had mixed blood in my family for nine generations." And that was such a big fib it was laughable. Except that most people still believed that.
"Oh I was talking about quidditch. I tend to jump from one topic to another. Though I Nathan plays quidditch, too incidentally." She paused. "Ooh and I thought of another one. Jackson? The seventh year? Heard he's hitting on some terribly boring ravenclaw." She bit her lip. "You're right though, it does happen after sex too, but its somehow more sexy when you havent got any clothes on," she said with a knowing wink. "But you wouldnt know, would you, honey?" Diana was curious about whether the quiet slytherin had slept with anyone yet - her guess would be no. Ha, good luck getting Nathan with that kind of reputation.

She knew that she did not look pretty right now and nodded when Diana pointed it out. "yeah well I was kind of in a rush this morning." She explained. Normally she tried to do make up. It was hard though since her sister and mother hadnt been around since she was eleven. At eleven she was just beginning the phase where one becomes interested in make up. Then there was no one to learn from so she managed to teach herself the basics and learn the rest of magazines. Amazing the sort of things one can learn in a magazine about make up. But she figured that if her sister was still around then Cassandra would definately be more knowlegable about make up.
Once someone told her to be careful around people trying to help you too much. So she just nodded and let Diana talk when she talked about what kind of boy Cassandra needed. While at the same time she made a mental note to never ever let Diana set her up. Then the talk switched back over to Nathan. She did think that the only Slytherin boys were very cute but she knew that she never had a chance with them. She wasnt even going to try since it just was not going to happen for her. She knew that she was the least noticed in Slytherin and guys, like the other Slytherin boys, wanted hot and sexy girls that put out.
Then Diana went to the blood status subject. "Yeah pureblood." She said. "but nine generations is impressive since there just seems to be so much breeding with the muggles." She said. The statment sounded harsh but she had every reason to be pissed off with muggles since her muggle mother did leave her father. It was so wierd lying about her blood status, often she told people that her mom died in child birth with her and she was an only child. It was the hardest lie to tell.
She laughed when Diana said that she was talking about Quidditch since the smudged make up applied to both situations. To be honest she did not know the current house team all that well but she knew they played good. Maybe this year they would win the tournament between houses. She had a thought about people playing quidditch naked and it was kind of a wierd thought. Then she realized the broom sticks between the guy's legs would probably be very uncomfortable. "um... yeah I guess you are right I wouldnt know." She siad. Virginity was not something that she was ashamed of. At least she want called a slut behind her back or was accused of sleeping with professors.

She rolled her eyes. Who left their room in the morning without putting on make-up? She would have much preferred to be late too class, though of course she did not suppose Cassandra wanted that particular kind of attention. Perhaps it was the wrong kind for her to be attracting to herself, either, but she did not often think about the consequences of her actions - simply because she did not often have to. Like the consequences of playing around with Cassandra. Who'd question her? And if they did, who wouldnt believe she was just trying to be a like a good elder sister (if a slightly misinformed one) for the fifth year slytherin. She smiled at the thought.
"Well, classes are damn early in the school," she said with a shrug. She had enough late nights to not appreciate very early mornings, and especially not early mornings where she had to go to class and do some stupid spells that she got within a try or two at the most. Still, she refused to sleep in the afternoon, or at all when she could avoid - she could sleep when she was dead. She wanted to enjoy her life while she was alive - and especially while she was ruling the school in Hogwarts. "I think I miss an average of one or two morning transfiguration classes every week. They bore me, anyway. I'm awfully good at it." Boasting, and a lie - she was good at transfiguration (even the Professor must know, or why would he let her stay in his class?) but she also enjoyed doing magic and learning new magic. Not that she would admit that to anyone, least of all Cassandra, who might, god forbid, tell Astrid. She had a reputation to keep up.
Her reputation was the reason she replied to the pureblood comment with so much acidity, she didnt care for muggles but she certainly didnt hate them. She'd been one, once. "Muggles are filthy." True, as far as Diana had seen them. "Wizards should stay with wizards." Cassandra's own reputation was clear enough. She was not even mildly surprised that the girl was a virgin and clearly Cassandra herself was almost proud of it. "You'll never know till you've tried it," she said with a grin, thinking back to a night in her fourth year. She'd been more scared, back then. More little. More vulnerable. And now she was at a point where she absolutely refused to be vulnerable.
But Diana was now bored, so she searched around for her candy, and was about to put her hand back into the brown packet when she noticed a book in Cassandra's bag - a book she actually recognized! She pulled it out. It was a book that was a rage among young witches right now. "Ah, so this is what you're reading? Its quite good." She had read it. She liked fiction, especially fiction you could escape into. But Diana's sharp eyes had noticed the corner of another book - which she also pulled out with amazing speed - she was used to spotting and swiping balls as a chaser, after all. When she saw the book, her smile became decidedly more malicious, and her voice lowered. "Reading a muggle book, are we, Ms. Cassandra Murphy?"

Most night Cassandra had trouble sleeping and last night was the first night in a very long time that she went to bed and slept until the morning. Normally she'd sleep for a few hours and then get up. At that time the common room was quiet, since no one was there, and she could work on homework without being judged. She hated working on magic and not getting it, then people would comment. If she was going to try and keep up the act of being pureblood then she wanted to be the best at everything. Almost like magic came naturally to her.
"Yeah I guess classes are on the early side. But at least they dont run too late." She commented. Plus they got breaks in between classes for socialization time or time to ask the preofessor questions. Then Diana started to talk about Transfiguration class. That wasnt one of her favorites but if it was Diana's favorite then whatever. "What sort of things are sixth years working on?" She asked out of curiosity. After taking her OWLS she probably would not continue with Transfigurations, but she might continue with it if her Head of House advisored her to. One class she hoped to drop after her OWLS was diviniations. That class was hard if you did not have the gift or if you had no interest in learning about your future. That sort of thing should be a surprise. Sometimes she would refer to it as the tea drinking class because all you did in that class for some weeks was drink tea.
Cassandra had a reason to hate them. Muggles had disappointed and basically abandoned her. How could she have a good opinion of muggles. Now muggle born wizard and witches were a different story because they had magical blood in them. But she hoped that none of the muggle borns had been abandoned like she had been. "We'll one day I would like to try but first one it would be nice to find a boy even semi interested in me." She commented and this time was scared that Diana would offer to help her find a boy. That would not result in anything good. She could find a boy on her own and it wouldnt go past her if Diana set her up with a boy who did something like start false rumors about her. The rumors were funny to hear but she never wanted them about her.
She had forgotten about her books at this point since they were having an interesting conversation and getting to know each other better. So when Diana pulled out the first book she got very nervous. "um... yeah it was pretty interesting. The author is really good." She said and hoped that Diana would stop there. It was rude to go through other peoples things. But then her greatest fear came true and Diana pulled out her muggle book. There was no way to stop her from pulling it out but thankfully she lowered her voice. "yeah... my dad likes to collect muggle things. Its a stupid hobby but it keeps him entertained since my mom died. He says that it gives him a good laugh in such dark times. Well he read this book and told me that the muggles were so funny and that I had to read it. So i've looked at it and it is quite a riot to see what the muggles enjoy." She explained and hoped that her lie was good enough.
